Hello,

late last year I decided to start on a AR-10 build chambered in .243 Win. After lots of looking around I decided to give blackholeweaponry a try. I have a buddy who has BHW barrel chambered in .223 on his AR and has had good luck. I looked on there website and they had .243 Win listed with a wait time of 6-10 weeks depending on lead times. This didn't seem bad so I ordered one up.

On Dec. 10th 2014 I completed an order and paid around $350. when week 10 came around I decided to call Blackhole and check on the order status since the only info I had received up to that point was an order confirmation on the date of order. At that time I spoke with a female who told me she could not find my order, and would have to call me back (even provided with order number). I waited approximately 2 weeks and still did not hear back. So, I decided to call again and spoke with a different female named Shelly. Shelly could see my order but could not provide me with any specific information on where my barrel was or how long the wait would be. Shelly told me she would go check on the production floor and get back to me.

Another week passed with no contact from the company so I called back. This time I spoke with an individual named JP. I told JP who I was and was looking for an update on my barrel. JP read off my order, which had the wrong profile than ordered and a bizarre thread twist which I did not order. I told JP that I wanted and needed 5/8x24 threads not some metric thread number that they pulled out of thin air. Profile was not the end of the world to me.

JP said the barrel hasn't been threaded and he would personally see to it that my barrel thread be correct. JP also told me he would get back to me with a estimated completion date. :)

JP did send me an email and said barrel would be done in about 6 more weeks, and that he corrected the issues with the barrel.

6 weeks goes by and I receive and email from black hole that tells me that they are sorry for the longer than usual wait time and would like to send me a free T-Shirt for my patience. The email informed me that it would be another 3 weeks before ship date. a free T-shirt? really? :scrutiny:

well those 3 weeks have already went by, and I still haven't heard anything about my barrel. I guess it is only week 19 but I am starting to think they either 1) forgot about my order or 2) screwed up my order and did tell me about it.

I have had two buddies who ordered barrels from them in late February, one in .243 LBC which was fluted and cerakoted and a regular 18' .223 blackened. They have both received there barrels already. :neener:

I have purchased a lot of gun parts, and items from companies and I can honestly say this has been the most frustrating. I understand that they are a busy company, with lots of orders but have not appreciated the service I have received so far. From what I hear blackhole is a very good company that makes good barrels. I hope mine shoots better than most with the wait i have had to endure. Maybe next time i will have the local guy do it for a couple hundred more dollars. O well, I was wondering what other experiences people have had with BlackHoleWeaponry, and if I am just one in the million who has been unlucky enough to be unsatisfied. I sure hope that is the case.

Thank you for listening to my rant.:fire:

P.S. I will post complete details of the build, along with a full report and pictures once my barrel arrives.

I have had the exact opposite experience because I dealt with the boss (owner) after dealing with the ladies in the front office.
I called on Friday and he found something interesting on the shelf. The barrel arrived the next Thursday. I heard him personally giving instructions.

They make a good product. I am a very happy camper with my Black hole barrel

I've used a number of their barrels and they are excellent in every way. Every barrel I've used has shown lower pressures, higher velocities, easy sub-moa accuracy and easy cleaning as compared to any other brand I have experience with. I think they have a lot of work being done by a limited number of people and things get shuffled around sometimes. My last barrel took about 4 months to receive. I wouldn't hesitate to order another barrel from them.

I am glad to hear the positive feedback. I guess there is some light at the end of the tunnel, that being they are good barrels when they finally come. I will keep you guys posted on when I get the barrel, and how it shoots whenever it arrives.

The barrel ships today. I suspect it will be a good one.

It was a pleasure assisting you.

My barrel did ship last night, thanks for your help Greg. I will update the thread with photos and review once I receive it.

Build is as follows:

Aero Precision M5 matching upper and lower
Hypertouch 24C 2lbs trigger
basic DPMS lower parts kit
Midwest Industries rail 15" handguard
Magpul UBR Stock
AR-10 carbine buffer spring with 4.4 ounce buffer
Aero Precision extended scope mount
Vortex Viper HST 4-16x44
Black Hole Weaponry 18" standard profile, mid length gas, chambered in .243 Win, with 5-8x24 thread
Gemtech Sandstorm

any questions let me know.

Thanks

Glad it finally arrived. I have had other busy places that do great work take much longer than normal. One place quoted six months to make me something and it took two years. Was worth the wait. My brother upon inspection of mine placed an order and he is now at the three year mark. I think many good places have trouble saying no when very back logged.
