What i mean is something almost always seems to happen and frustrate me. For example, when its cold i cannot wear all my clothes going in and setting up because i will sweat then freeze my butt off.

I tie it to a pull rope and either put most of it on and pull the rest up before i sit. On one occasion this year i forgot to attach it to my rope and didnt realize it til i was up the tree. I had to climb back down.It was still dark so didnt notice it til i shined on the ground.

One time i tied my jacket to the rope with my gun. Somehow some slack was in the rope and my jacket fell and the loop broke sending my jacket back to the ground. Had to climb back down for that one.

Another time my climber got hung up on a knot on the backside of the tree and it took me forever to figure out the problem in the dark.

Ive had my pull rope get tangled in briars and limbs.

This all happens after ive reached my highest point and tied my stand off.

Anyone else seem to have those days when everything seems to be going wrong?

I only bow hunt out of a climber. A week before season I get all geared up for a dry run in a tree in my yard. Hunting in cold country makes it tough when the temps drop. I sometimes make two trips carrying in extra clothes that I put on after I am in position and before I raise my bow. In my pack I have chute cord with a 2 ounce jig with the barbs filed off. If I drop something it is easy to just lower the hook and haul it up. I also take one trip up any tree I am going to hunt to remove obstacles and mark with a glo tac where my best position is a day before I hunt.
Once you get the routine down you will have more fun. Remember to wear that safety harness..

I never thought about using a hook like that. Great idea.

I refuse to use climbing tree stands because trees don't look like telephone poles. That means climbing a tree with a climbing tree stand will be way more difficult than the inventor figured it would be on paper. I'd rather just climb the tree myself and mount the tree stand when I'm up there.

Either it is not adjusted right and does not sit well or my pull cord falls out of my pocket. I have not used a climbing stand in 3 or 4 years. I prefer ladder stands.
