I used to do the colibri thing w/the Ruger 22/45...but at the new house the neighbors also have 2 story houses so they can see what's going on in the backyard.

Steyr , Do they actually cycle the action ?

No they do not. You have to hand cycle the action. Also being a bit short you can only reliable load 5 in the mag at a time. But who cares?

It is possible that the really low powered colibri's bullet can become lodged in the bore of a rifle due to insufficient pressures required for the projectile to fully exit the bbl. I have only used them in a revo pistol and occasionally in a target mkII

And YES I live on 3.5 ac with a huge lake as my backyard so I do get in some .22 action. Lately I've been shootin' at them big ol' black birds that eat my dog Boomers food.

All the time. I have a berm in the backyard with 4 pepper poppers and a target holder. I only shoot handguns at home ( and maybe my .30 Carbine). I prefer the range for high power stuff.

We live in the country on 35 acres but have many neighbors within a 1/2 mile.

Would love to do that, but it wouldn't take to long for the Local Constabulary to show up....Guy next door is retired City Detective.

bumma:(

Okay

I bought 500 rounds of Super Colibris's and decided after one box that I prefer CB's. Trades and offers will be given fair consideration.

I have taken out several raccoons and possums with CB rounds. Best shots have been through heart or lungs. CB lung shots result in a screaming mad beast for about 30 seconds--don't do this if your outside with them. Heart shot drops them right there.

I have a .22 lever action with a streamlight scorpion and a beamshot laser mounted on it. Very quiet, feeds any length cartridge, even CB's. Much quieter than a pistol, revolver or semi-auto rifle--the only noise comes out the end of the barrel.

On the other hand, you probably get more velocity out of a CB round through a shorter barrel. Since there's no powder, I'm sure a long barrel slows the bullet down some.

Colibri's and pellet gun. I live in the burbs in MD. I did stop around the time of the 'sniper' attacks and now it's too damn cold.

Carlos - I've used the Colibri's in an 18" 10/22 and a 24" Romanian 69 with no problems. The manufacturer warns you about using them in a rifle now, but didn't used to. Someone may have gotten one stuck. I don't use them in the Ruger anymore because the lack of cycling is a pain. Can't hear them from the Romanian.

I too prefer the CB's . They have a little more *** and not much louder out of my Remington 512 . I have shot many crows , a few jacks , and some quail with the CB's . The crows will jump up and get in the air a bit but then they make a crash landing . I haven't tried the super colibries on animals and doubt I will as they seem to light . Also have shot 45 acp ,223( killed two coyotes with the AR out the back door), 12ga and 22lr out the back yard but the town is growing and I have more neighbors now so I limit it to CB's anymore .
