We used to get bunches of them where I lived in CO. Forked stick is the best snake killer, and being on horseback is the best way to hear them. Horses can hear them a lot sooner the people.
38 shot shells work just fine. We kill about 10 to 15 a year just in our yard. Some with shovels but most with firearms. The only good snake is a dead one IMO. And you might think twice about them after being bit. I have seen first hand what rattle snake bites do to pets and humans, (very painful).
Taurus 85UL. I do not load more than one or two shot shells at a time because the plastic cups will walk out of the case under recoil and stop the cylinder from turning.
XD9SC with star fires, wife shot this one.
