Anyone ever seen a 10/22 with a factory stock like this?

A member is posting a 10/22 for sale on a local site and says this was made in like 69-70 and that he has been told it's a rare factory target stock. I'd never seen one like this and saw a lot of other similar comments, but I though it was cool. I wondered if this is really a factory stock, or of it's aftermarket as I know soo many aftermarket parts were made for this gun.

There it is. Anyone know anything about this? Also, what's the approximate value on this?

Hmm, it works for me, but give me a few minutes and I will upload it again.

I've seen them like that at the local Cabela's in Dundee MI from time to time. They are I believe called finger groove stocks and were a factory item at one time. They may have been a special run for a given chain/distributor, but I do believe them to be factory.

Those are known as a Fingergroove Sporter. It's factory. They were made in the 60's. Very nice.

That was the version my grandfather had. Those stocks by themselves often go for nearly the cost of a new 10/22 these days.

VERY nice.

So what would one of these things be worth? I'm kind of interested in it, but don't know what it's worth, and I'm not sure if I want it or not.

Yep, that's an old factory walnut "fingergroove" stock. Collectors and shooters alike go nuts for them but I have yet to even handle one. That one looks to have some nice figure in it. The place to find info on stuff like that is RugerForum and RFC.

You might also notice the one in the photo has a nice anodized aluminum receiver unstead of a painted one like they use now!

Lots of things to like about those older 10/22's!

Friend of mine had one, looked similar. His was a Canadian Centennial, about 1967 vintage Ruger 10/22.

Not if the `69 -`70 date range is correct. They were only anodized `64 -`68, then switched to a teflon coating.

Don't know?

That one sure looks anodized to me.
You can almost see the aluminum gleaming through it.

I have 10/22 serial #113,xxx, which I believe was made in 1967, and it is annodized and looks just like the one in the photo.

I also have a 1967 Shooters Bible, which lists:
The 10/22 Standard carbine at $54.50.
The 10/22 Sporter with the finger-groove stock for $64.50.
And the 10/22 International Mannlicher stocked one for $74.00.

Maybe the seller is off a few years on the date that one was made?

Looking more closely at the picture, you might be right.

Funny how Ruger switched to teflon coatings for the 10/22 in the late 1960's but anodized revolver parts until the 1990's.
