I came across these AK receivers from Global Trades.

http://www.globaltrades.com/ak_receivers.html

In particular I was interested in the Type 3 1mm receivers that already have the trigger guard, mag catch, spring and selector stop installed. Would I be able to drop one of these into a decent parts kit without any more modification to the receiver itself?

I believe Lancaster Consulting uses those receivers in their builds, and the quality is up there.

Yeah, have used a lot of Global Trades--top notch.

I do prefer nodaks a tiny bit. Still, a very good reciever.

I prefer to get them without trunnion holes drilled, as different kits can be off a tiny bit (especially from country to country?), but you shouldn't need to do anything special to the reciever to install the kit. Of course, assembling an AK is not like putting an AR together. The trigger guard already in place would be nice, save you from needing that particular bucking bar (or using a plate and screws)

Is there any way of knowing which nationality part kit would work best with this receiver?

The picture shows no trunnion holes, so you should be good for hungarian, polish, romanian, and bulgarian stamped--but not most yugos (since they have a bulged rpk style trunnion and odd rear trunnions...on second thought, it might be easier to state what type kit you have?

For the ak builder, the sites mentioned above are required reading for sure. :)

Hmmm this one already has the trigger guard installed, I'll have to shoot these guys an email and see if they have any in stock.

Thanks for the info guys.
