Anyone ever use a Superior Arms AR lower for a build?

I've been thinking about an AR build recently (I own 2 AR's that I did not build), and have been checking the parts availability. Aim offers a lower made by Superior Arms Co. This is one of the cheapest lowers I have seen in a while priced at $89 from AIM. i've had a few people tell me that AR lowers are so generic these days that the mfg really doesn't matter (I'm not really sure of these same folks real knowledge of AR builds). I'm not looking for the best quality that money can buy, but rather want to do this as a fun project and also learn a bit more about the platform. At the same time I don't want to spend my money and end up with a piece of junk (aka jam-o-matic) either.
Any experience, good or bad, or advice will be greatly appreciated

Few out of spec areas. Bit of filing here and there to make things fit, drill a hole bigger. For that price you get what you pay for. I prefer a shop that actually can follow a blueprint.

I had no problems stuffing a DPMS parts kit in one. The only issues was the location of the pistol grip screw hole. Because they put the pre-load screw in near the grip screw hole it is a little off to allow the grip to go on properly. Just carefully oval out the screw hole in the grip a little bit and all is well.

I would say spend an extra $20 and get a Stag or DPMS, or $50 and get a Smith and Wesson...

Why? Because at least you know they're a quality product.

I have a Stag lower and it was on spec right out of the box, no filing, fiting, etc.

I have built dozens of ARs using Superior. The Williams family runs a fine shop. If you find a product that isn't right they will make it right for you . To you folks that think Superior is Inferior, you must be calling Lauer Custom Weaponry Inferior or Spikes Tactical.

Superior Arms has cut a fair share of lowers for them and many other AR vendors who want their name on a lower but have to have the product made reliably elsewhere.

Like any other machine made items mistakes are made and out of the hundreds of lowers I have gotten I have had two out of spec from Superior. It happens

What about all those crappy Bravo Company uppers that rattled like a baby rattle when you mounted to a lower of ANY make.

Btw I put two lowers today from Superior, used a DPMS LPK, went together like butter.

The green AR in this picture was built about a year and half ago on a Superior, It is one in my personal collection with RRA Upper. Not a single hiccup since I have been shooting it, totally reliable.

all lowers are not the same, but most are pretty dang close.

i usually build on essential arms, but that was when they were $76 for a lower. Now they're $100. I just bought two tactical innovations ones for $109 ea, but they have some extra features.

for that price, i'd try one, for sure. IF it's not to spec (like most people would even have a clue what the spec is) then send it back and ask for a new one.

Bought 4 last year. None would take any of my uppers. The rear pin would not go in all the way (there was a rather large gap between all lowers and uppers). Superior inspected the uppers and said they were in spec. and that I was SOL. Luckily the seller refunded my money. I was not at all happy with and will never buy another Superior Arms lower.
