I searched a little but didn't find an answer to what is probably obvious to veteran builders. I'm looking at a long-term build project (first build for me) to build along with a friend who's started an AR-15 build.

I already have a nice Stag 15-1L (.223/5.56) I also have a Savage 16 in 7mm-08. I really like the ballistics of the 7mm round.

Since I have quite a bit of 7mm bullets and brass, I'd like to build an AR-10 in that calliber and I want to buy a stripped lower. Is the stripped lower bullet calliber specific or just case specific? How about the magazines? It would be nice if the same lower could handle both 7mm-08 and .308 uppers. Is this the case with the Armalite AR-10 lower receiver?

This is my first forray into AR-10 territory and I have zero knowledge of these critters. Thanks for your help.

The lower will handle a lot of different combos. Main issue is length.

How about the magazines?

Most will work with all callibers some require minor mods to the feed lips.

Yes, same lower will handle both and many others. If you haven't discovered yet DMPS and Armalite uppers and lowers are not compatible with each other. Just be sure what you have and what you are buying.

Check these guys out for some ideas of what is out there, I'm sure there are others just happen to have this link handy. http://www.ar-10-rifles.com/index.php
