A friend of mine has asked about the value of an older shotgun that he has come by. He describes it as a Westernfield 12Ga Model -550AD. This is a pump action shotgun that he describes as almost NIB. He is unsure if it has ever been fired. He was also given a new box of shells (unopened-also marked Westernfield) and a old, unopened Westernfield cleaning kit. These unopened items from the same source (former owners daughter-in-law) have led him to think that the items were purchased together , but never used. She also stated to him that the Father-in-law was not a hunter and was never known to go shooting.
Any ideas?

I think that was a Montgomery Wards house-branded Mossberg, but I'm not sure.

WRT value, insofar as there is collector value for these shotguns, it would seem this gun and accompanying items would have some. Othwerwise, I have no idea.

The Western Field 550AB is a Mossberg 500AB "rebranded"

Collector value with the 'branded' accessories ? ? ? ?

Decent solid shotgun though..can get other barrels and accesories from Mossberg.
