Looking at Vortex scopes I ran across Expert Voice. It is on their website. If you are current or former military or law enforcement you can join and supposedly get really good discounts on a lot of stuff. I was specifically looking for a Vortex 1-4x20 scope. However, you have to join as an affiliation to some type of law/mil group. There are several to choose from (in my case, retire LE). Not a real problem other than they want copies of credentials which makes me a bit leary. So, anyone heard of Expert Voice or is a member?

Me leery too. Sounds like a data mining operation.

That may be simply geriatric paranoia, though.

Are the discounts substantial enough on a day-to-day basis to justify putting your mil or LE data on "somebody's" data base?

"Oh, but our data is secure."

Ayup. So was Chase bank's.

.

I've been with them for years, before the latest name change. Think it was Expertcity before?

I haven't had any issues with using them. Discounts used to be better in the past and Leupold was on there at one time. Many ways to join, don't think I sent them anything sensitive, I know I did not send them a copy of any ID. Certain levels of NRA membership get you an access # also. Tons of various jobs also qualify you, working in almost any outdoor industry or sales for instance.

Yeah. I’m familiar with it. It’s not just vortex on there it’s a lot of brands. Definitely good deals. They don’t require anything for verification that’s not already out there and the more “affiliations” you have the more brands you have access too. It’s a great program, seriously.

I have yet to use any discounts through Expert Voice. I got signed up through my NRA membership. I also set up my veteran affiliation and Expert Voice actually use ID.me to verify my military/veteran status. I did not have to send any personal information to Expert Voice. The discount through Expert Voice for Swampfox Optics was no different than the direct discount the Swampfox all ready offers for active military/Leo/veterans.

As far as ID.me being legitimate, yes they are. ID.me is used by several federal government agencies to verify veteran status. The VA is one of them. Quite a few major companies use them also, Apple being one of them.

I'm on it and I've used it once for a Vortex laser range finder.

By the time it was all said and done I think I might have saved about $7.00 and got the product a few days later than some of the other on-line stores I deal with would have gotten it to me. I haven't use it since.

I am pleased to be wrong. Thanks for the input.

I am a member, current LEO, and have ordered several times. Sometimes the discount is good, sometimes not. I've had no issues with them at all.

But the discount program is off topic for THR so I'm locking this. Feel free to pm me if you have further questions.
