I'm just curious. My family has a funny little denial of my collecting and shooting. It's pretty much all I have going for a hobby right now, but they certainly didn't get me anything remotely related to it. Anyone else have a similar experience?

My wife asked me what I wanted this year, and I said "Oh, anything for shooting". Her answer? the classic wife put-off "I don't know anything about that stuff!".

Now, don't get me wrong, she's a wonderful lady, but this attitude is a rather lazy one if you ask me. I know absolutely zippo about Imperial Carnival glass (which she collects), but if I'm to be a decent husband I know that I must not only learn, but treat her with a rare piece or something extravagant for her collection. (I'm just claiming my moral superiority here, don't read too much into it).

I instead get lots of pragmatic, perfectly boring gifts (clothes, collogne, etc.). That's ok, I appreciate them, but I always thought to ignore someone's passion, especially someone you live with, is a no-no. I think next year I'm going to get her a new set of dish-rags and a gift-certificate to the grocery! :D

Oh yeah, that'll go over well!

If my family could buy me a good handgun, they would. The problem is, the good ones they would buy me are too expensive.

My family has an opinion...either get good stuff that'll last, or nothing at all. I got winter clothing, which I needed, for Christmas, plus some cash.

Nothing Here

I'm not asking for anything extravegant. I mean if I were to find a tricked out Kimber Compact or AR-15 I'd probably drop dead from the shock.

Simply an ammo box full of .308 for my FAL or .45 or 9mm for my pistols would be a nice treat, but like Swingset my family is in denial.

My family is quite OK with guns. Dad bought me a gun-related book: Collectors guide to handguns and revolvers since 1850. My 84-year-old grandmother bought me a KATANA. How she always knows exactly what i need/want?

I did not receive anything gun or shooting related, but I gave something gun and shooting related. I gave my wife two more magazines for her CS9. She was very happy.

My wife made me a new sterling silver watch chain for my favorite Cowboy Action watch...a shooting sport that accessorizes...oh, how low I have fallen...

That, and a pan of fudge, was the extent of my Christmas.

My wife, however, has me building her a "Christmas pistol"...STI 5" in .40 with a radically lightened slide with milled "scale" serrations. Mmm...Bar-Sto bull barrel...all stainless furniture...hard chrome...I like building 'em about as much as shootin' 'em.

I'm at my GF's house again this x-mas. Last year her parents got me a bunch of ammo, but this year, because we flew here instead of driving, they got me (among other non-gun things) a hand held cordless power drill. They said at least it kind of looked like a gun!

Oh wait, I just remembered, my GF did give me a $50 gift certificate from my favorite gun shop. I guess I did get a gun-related present.

Nope - nothing gun related here! But to be honest, I didn't ask for any. I was concentrating more on chrome for my new bike, & I did get a bunch of that!

Of course, I did get money which I can spend on gun stuff, & a new computer game - Ghost Recon - so that is kinda like gun stuff!

My family thinks I have enough gun stuff and then some. Unless I specifically request something relate to guns, it aint gonna happen. Far from days done by. On my 5th Christmas with my wife she bought me a S&W 686. 6" bl. That was 1986. If my 401(k) had done as well as some of my guns, I could retire now. Oh well!

No shooting stuff this year but thats mostly because of the $$$$ we spent on the Nascar cruise we just went on. Did get a new Matt Kenseth racing jacket , a Flyers wind shirt, Flyers t-shirt, and a Flyers hat.

Didn't receive anything myself

but was invited by my boss over to his house for Christmas eve. HIS wife bought him a Browning A-Bolt in 30.06 with a Leopold scope and a Benelli M1. Since I'm the "gun expert", guess who got to clean, assemble, and test fire the new toys:D

Will need to go back this weekend to test the scope zero at longer range. Was only able to fire 20 rounds at 25 yards.

I didn't get anything gun-related for Christmas. I never do, never have. But mostly I prefer it that way. I'm picky about exactly which things I want to have. And many gun-related things are too expensive to be a gift.

Same with photo stuff. I've had that as my hobby for longer than guns (I have negatives going back to when I was in second grade; I didn't start shooting until I was out of college).

:( Christmas, what's that?
For those of you with familys give thanks. I have no family left. All our traditions are gone. My wife and I are alone in IL.
No tree, no cards, no Christmas music. All my records (yes real vinal) is boxed in a storage locker.

We are saving our funds so we can get the he!! out of IL before Blagoyajerk can start with his gun grab plans.
We didn't buy each other anything.

Actually I did get something for Christmas, :D , it snowed. This is the first White Christmas I have had since I was a child living in Farmington NM.

Sorry about the negative post. Please forgive.
