This is the stubby one with the double stack mag.

It seems Llama may have gone out of business. Is this correct. I heard the employees had tried to keep 'er running, but I haven't heard what is happening with them. It's too bad. They built some pretty nice pistols thru the yrs. (especially in the old days before they lost the quality control).

So much for the "lifetime warrantee !!!

Anyway, I have one of these and it has a couple of problems. I have a friend who does smith work on 1911s looking at it. These have a real cheap plastic safety plunger tube and I am hoping we can replace it with a standard 1911 plunger assy. (we may have to shorten or otherwise modify one.)

Anyone have one of these or have experience with this?

Thanks,

The Shop I do gun work for used to sell the MiniMax when they were available.
Llama is now defunct, some parts may be obtained from Gun Parts Inc.

You can probably modify a standard plunger tube to work but it will involve redrilling holes in the frame and using epoxy along with staking.
Everything will need to be adjusted just right before you drill or glue or the re-repair won't be pretty.

Brazing may not work because the side of the Llama receiver is thin enough that blow through can become a possibility hence the recommendation for epoxy.
For 'special' repairs I use Accra-Glass Gel mixed with atomized steel or aluminum depending on the materials being attached together.

Good Luck.
