I have a Mossberg Model 44 U.S.(a) 22 lr with a Weaver G4 Scope. No serial number (can't determine the DOM).

I want to replace the existing scope which has a 3/4" tube with a newer (larger FOV and eye relief), but the gun is tapped on the left side of the receiver, making my options very limited. The base plate is stamped N2 (for side mounts).

Does anyone know if there is an updated scope base replacement that can handle the newer scopes with a 1" tube size?

I have attached pics for viewing. Thank you.

There are a number of rings that will fit standard .22 grooved receivers that will accommodate a larger tube. I prefer the center split type, as they always will be centered and in line with the bore. I have a pair like these on my Winchester. Take a look - if you search around on Midway or Graf & Sons, there will be more. Hope this helps.

**SORRY** I just zoomed in on your pic. I thought those were using a groove mounted rings, and the gun ALSO had a side tapped holes. Shoot.

Something along these lines?

I'm going through this exact same deal with a previously drilled and tapped Winchester 63. I bought a 1" set-up from Brownell's. I had to phone and ask; it took them a week or so to get the mount from Weaver.

The mounting holes aren't exactly the same, but a drill press will fix that little problem.

Believe it or not:

Long story short we ended up with some & they work great. Shooting buddy has them on a Mossberg .22. I use the on an 82G & switch between scopes & aperture sights.

If you have amazon prime some have free shipping. There are a couple of name like UTG, Leapers and even Sniper. Don't let the name turn you off.
It still hard to believe the price & how well the work. A friend tried them & ended ordering a couple in each size for future use.

I have had a couple of other types of rings not worth using.
