I've been thinking about purchasing one for a fishing/hiking gun (local price is $475) . I currently own a Taurus 627SS4 and a Mil Pro PT145 and have been pleased with the performance/reliability. However, I did a search and found 1 person who had a bad experience with the 444 ultralite. Are there any others? Good or bad?

Thx

I've got one!

EVERYONE told me I was crazy to buy it- too light, Taurus questionable quality, etc... I bought it to carry in bear country during hunting season, I was looking for light and dependable. I (and most of the nay-sayers) like it alot. It has been reliable using a variety of ammo, fits my hand well, and believe it or not, very manageable on recoil. 44 Spl is easy and 44 Mag is stout but not uncomfortably so. This gun shoots 44Mag +P, but I have not tried that yet. I think the grips are the key, the Taurus grips are very easy to get used to. One thing you should be aware of is that hand size seems to make the difference. The gun seems to be much more comfortable to those with larger hands (probably obvious). My 444Multi is my first wheelgun but not my last. I'm thinking about getting the compact titanium 357 for carry.
