Anyone have clear grips with photos underneath?

I dimly recall that some GIs in WWII made grips out of old aircraft windows for their 1911s, and would put pinups or photos from home under the grips, thus "framing" their pic inside the grip.

Is this true? Anyone have pics, either of WWII-era clear grips, or modern equivalents?

Does anyone make Lexan or similar grips, or is this a DIY project?

How much do they go for? Would be nice for a carry gun.

Had a friend in WVa put clear grips on his 1911... he taped a $50 under the clear grips on each side.

His permit stated "Not valid unless carrying at least $100 in cash".
