Anyone have experience with Kahr pistols?

I am a little bummed because of the capacity limits of both ...
That is the price you pay for the shortness and slenderness of the grip.

There are other "slimnines" (compact, single-stack magazine 9mm) on the market (e.g., SIG P239, S&W 3913), but they will only give you one more round and are larger overall. The compact versions of the CZ75 are really nice guns with 14-round magazines, but they are bigger still.

I have a Kahr PM9 and I love it. I am planning on getting a new gun soon, but it WILL be a Kahr. I want a .40 S&W and a metal frame so I will be getting an MK40.

Varoadking, is that the blackened stainless steel finish? I really like it. Also, is that rubber or a synthetic grip? Probably synthetic, but looks a little like rubber.

Nice pics!

Kahr

Bought a Kahr PM9 w/ Nite Sights and black slide couple of years ago, paid top $$ because they were not easy to find then. Out of the box, shot 10" hi and 8" right @ 10 yds, 8" groups, when it worked! MANY FTF/FTC failures, with all 6 mags and several different factory loads.

Back to Kahr 3 times- now it is maybe 98% reliable, still 4" hi and 3" right at 10 yds. Considering sending it to Cyl & Slide for their reliability pkg, or just going back to my J frames (640, 642, 340SS).

Since I bought it, have talked with a number of Kahr owners; seems the larger models work well, later micros seem better also. Like some of the posters above, a friend just bought the duplicate to mine, and it's 100% reliable, shoots to poa.

Slick little piece, easy to strip, easy to clean. If I only trusted it...

Someone needs a course in physics, and an understanding in how that relates to firearms functioning. An auto pistol needs some mass in it's slide--that is why every auto pistol uses steel or stainless steel for the slide. It would not function without unGodly springs, and perhaps not even then.

Actually, my buddy's EDC pistol is a Taurus PT111 Millenium Titanium with a polymer frame and a titanium slide. After a couple of magazines at the range it does start to feel like someone is snapping a rubber band into the web of your hand when you fire it, but it has a normal weight recoil spring and, as far as I know, it has never had a feeding error.

You can get +1 mags for the MK's, and I would assume for the PM's too. 6+1 then, not the best capacity, but not bad for something you could pocket carry in a 40! The MK are a little heavy for pocket, but can be done. PM's are better for that. Get a good pocket holster. Andrew's Gunleather here (lefty)! Note pics are of stock mag, the +1 does stick out a bit further.

Yes, there's one in the pipe on that last one! Gun is very stable like that and notice I am off to the side with zoom on, not in the front of the barrel.

I am selling a T9

It just so happens that I was going to take my 2006 Kahr T9 (all stainless, wood grips, novak night sights etc) to the local gun shop and trade it in next week. After the 200 round recommended break in period I haven't had a single FTE or FTF for 1000 rounds. The barrel was replace about 200 rounds ago. The original one had a defect in the crown and Kahr replaced it promptly. Great customer experience for me. PM me if you would like to discuss a sale. I was thinking that to sell it myself would be a hassle but since you mentioned getting one...

Includes all original paperwork, box, 2 mags and a nice Galco OWB holster.

I am only selling because I want to get a G34 for IDPA. The Kahr has been a great gun but doesn't hold 10 rounds and 10 round mags are very helpful for IDPA. Kahr doesn't make extra capacity mags so I tried Promag 10 round magazines and they didn't feed reliably.

I've shot my neighbor's brand new Kahr PM40 at the range when we went together this summer. Nice little gun. It took about 100 rounds of UMC before it gummed it up and caused any malfunctions. UMC is pretty dirty ammo and he did this on purpose to test reliability during break in. I was really pleased with their DAO trigger, light and smooth by any DAO standard. They're built tight and in the .40 polymer package, recoil was pretty peppy. He put a Hogue handall on it and it helped the comfort factor quite a bit.

Sickly small too, really nice for a CCW. I could see the appeal of the stainless models, but if I were going for CCW, I'd go for the polymer frame myself since they are notably lighter. And, as stated, why pay for a heavy small gun if you can have a light small gun. It's all a tradeoff.

That said, I was very impressed with the pistol and have considered one for myself or my wife.

The poor customer service sounds disappointing though. However, sounds like it's rarely required.

Love my PM9. Great for pocket or IWB carry. Mine is a low serial number model with no issues. Can't recommend the PM40. Too much recoil for such a small handgun, IMHO.

It's polished stainless - the Elite Series comes that way - and the grip is synthetic. Wish I could find a set of rubber grips for it - I understand they stopped making them for the MK-9. I have a set of checkered wood stocks on backorder with Kahr for about 2 months now...

No kidding. I contacted Hogue and Kahr both trying to get a set of rubber or at least stippled wood grips, but no luck. I even posted WTB ads here and at some other forums trying to buy a used pair. I wish Kahr would have more of them made. They would sell pretty easily.

I love the K9. Reliable, accurate, and is easily concealed. However it is not light. The weight is ok for carrying in a good holster.
