Am looking at left handed gun options, not ambidextrous - but one set up outright for lefties. It'll be for CC and rec shooting. I see charter Arms makes the Southpaw and would like to hear from anyone who owns and has shot one, what their thought are on the gun.

I'm left-handed, but entered law enforcement decades ago, and was trained heavily in the revolver as it was. Finding techniques for reloading the gun quickly and effectively as a left-handed shooter took some work. I've gotten so used to it, though, that a left-handed revolver in my grip would really screw me up.

Still, I'd like to see one "in the flesh." I'll be watching this thread.

I use one as my EDC. I've had zero problems with it, and after I put a strip of florescent red paint on the front sight it was accurate.

I've been shooting DA revolvers for over 25yrs left handed, never have felt at a disadvantage, and frankly, have felt as though the left side cylinder swing has been an advantage even in ejection and reloading.

I hadn't seen the Charter Arms Southpaw until now, and as an instructor/collector/enthusiast, I'll buy one, but I certainly won't carry it or use it as anything more than a novelty.

Thanks Kaeto - A few questions on the gun, while I understand it is your EDC (and may not get many rounds through it per year), about how many rounds have you put through it so far? Were they +P or standard .38 Spl? What ammo selection would you recommend? Also, how would you describe the factory trigger? Lastly, how well do the factory grips work for you, would you recommend them or an aftermarket set if the gun is fired a lot? I'm seriously looking at getting one and besides EDC would consider shooting it in 'fun' matches like the steel plate challenge for practice. Nice photo by the way - thanks for responding.

I've put about 350 rounds through it. 50 of which were +P. I load my own for it, both JHP and Flatnose softpoint over 4.1 grains of Bullseye. I've found the factory trigger to be perfectly fine for my shooting (both SA and DA). Accuracy is good for a snubby. The factory grips are easy to use and comfortable. Charter does sell a smaller style of grip for better concealment
These are the standard

Then the concealment

Then Specialty type

and 'hip grip'
