So im a southpaw and i have a S&W 640-1(that i carry on my weak side) i was looking at a CA southpaw today and really like the fact its for lefties. anyone have first hand experience with this model??

Have an Undercoverette...seems solid, not finished like a S&W, but not as costly, haven't had any issues, as accurate as I expect for a snubby.

Baby brother has one

My brother is a southpaw and he bought a lefty C.A.

I fired it and see no problem with it and it was accurate and well made.

Charter Arms back in the 70's was at the top of it's game. Once sold it went through several incarnations, none very good especially Charter Arms 2000. Now that charter Arms is back in the hands of it's original owners the quality and innovation is back. If i didn't already have a carry revolver (or 3) I would not hesitate to buy and trust one of their current revolvers. I really like their current selection of handguns! I especially their 20oz Police Undercover which is a 6 round J frame size snub nose.

I have two of their older guns, both Undercover models in .38. One is from 1966; the other is from 1987. Both are well-built and handle greatly.
I'm also left-handed, but was so extensively trained in the double-action revolver in RH-ed configuration when I entered law enforcement that a LH-ed revolver would really mess me up.
If you want the Southpaw, I see no reason for you to hesitate.

ive got a charter amrs book says the MSRP is 427$ is this the going rate or have you seen these cheaper??

I've fired hundreds if not thousands of mild wadcutters and some full power stuff through mine. It's no where near as smooth or finely finished as a Colt or S&W, and the action is a bit gritty feeling. That said, it costs one heck of a lot LESS and works exactly as it should. In my opinoin it's a bargain for the folks who can't or don't want to spend a lot of money on a snub nosed revolver. I've been shooting right handed guns for so long that it took me just a bit to get used to it's operation. Great fun, to hand it to an unsuspecting right hander and watch the baffled look on his/her face.

Price-wise, these things should run about $350-$380 at a gun shop.

Even the Bulldogs are only running about $380 where I am.

The MSRP is WAY high.

Sorry I don't remember what I paid for mine. It has smoothed condiderably with the shooting. I wouldn't hesitate to carry it. As I said before I consider it a solid inexpensive gun that provides good value for the money. I wouldn't shoot any quantity of heavy +p loads in it, but any standard pressure 38 specials would work just fine. Heavy loads would be painful to the shooter and hard on the little alloy framed gun, hastening it's need for service.
