Anyone have metalworking skills, want to help teaching knife newbies?

Bit of an odd idea, but thought I'd try it out here before checking on BladeForums.

I've been running a Passaround of several inexpensive balisong knife trainers (unsharpened) on the SomethingAwful forum. It's been going for six months now, 4000 views on the thread, 100-some posts. The balis have passed to a dozen-some members, and several have bought their own balisongs because of the passaround.

I've got a brass-handled Pakistani balisong trainer sitting around, which is loose but solid, and would be a good addition to the passaround. However, this balisong was made with very soft tang pins, so soft that the handles would "bite" into them and stop the swing. In a bubba-esque move, I took a Dremel and filed off the tang pins. It works okay now, but would be better with decent pins.

If anyone here has basic metal skills and is bored, the following would allow me to get this unsharpened trainer moving:

-Drill out the spot of the former pins
-Insert a small/short rod of hard steel and fix in place

That's pretty much it. If someone wants to "engrave" the blade or any other treatment for kicks, that'd also be pretty cool. Likewise, if you're really slick and want to tighten up the action on the balisong, that'd be outstanding.

Then I could get it out circulating so folks could experiment with balisong tricks. It's a non-sharpened trainer, so avoids the legal hassle of sending an actual balisong around. If up and running, this may pass through dozens of curious hands.

If anyone is interested, drop me a line. Thanks much.
