. . . . Like in storage unit? I'm going to be moving from Long island, NY to manhattan for at least 4 months on this really good deal I got and not sure it's worth going through the trouble of registering etc. . I'll be keeping most of my things in a storage unit out there in Long Island including my rifle for that time and then waiting to see how it goes. And you don't need to register a long gun outside the city limits. Although I doubt i'll be going back to LI - -if you don't own a house which i don't and can't afford right now -- a renter is like a 2nd class citizen. Aside from the fact you can own a gun.

Although cops there are like the gestapo anyway. Seems like I was more scared of someone taking the gun if I forgot to lock my door than I was of having to defend myself.

Prep your guns for storage I lived in LI most of my life its a damp place. (even in controlled storage units) Store them right and you should be fine.

I have, but not currently. I think it's a good idea as long as it's legal and allowed by the person or business storing the firearms.

I've left my weapons with a shooting friend of mine once when I was moving and then on packing day loaded them into my car & drove them to my new home.

I've got to many to do that now.

I can't see anything wrong with preparing the guns correctly (against rusting) and puting them into a secure storage.
