I just bought a utility cutter and its kinda hard to open, I thought I might be able to loosen it with a pair of needle nose pliars, but it didn't budge.... I can't find a website, but i bought the cutter at Advance Auto Parts... anyone know how I can loosen it?

I'd advise against trying to do anything to improve it or you'll void any warranty that might exist. Take it back and exchange it. Unfortunately Sheffield is chinese POS instead of Sheffield, England (but that's the association they want you to make:cuss: )

i wasn't aware there was a mimicking brand... I'll have to keep my eyes alert next time i go knife shopping :O

What?!?!?!

I don't know if I can return it, the package is torn up pretty bad....

The package condition doesn't matter. The knife is defective and they can't reuse the packaging anyway.

Be polite and firm e.g. "It's not working. I guess one bad one slips though even the best quality control". The fact that qc is minimal with this line isn't important. Getting a working POS is.

Well, there's not really anything wrong with it, except for the fact that I can't flick it open with ease..... Do you think Advance Auto will give me a refund for this reason?

They weren't designed to be "flicked open". They should still accept the return, though.

its starting to loosen up, i think i'll just keep it..... i think i might have thrown the package away

Sheffield gives you a Limited Lifetime Warranty. I picked on of these up today at Wal-Mart. For 8 bucks, I figured I couldn't go wrong, and I figured a folding razor would be nice to have around- and the sheffield didn't have ANY plastic (except the blade cover). Mine feels fine- can't be flicked, but that's the only downside. Actually seems like descent quality. I have one of their stainless keychain pliers- which also works well.
