I got an old recurve bow in a trade. Cost me about $10 worth of 7.62x9 ammo.
Anyhow, I know just about nothing about bows.
The name brand on this one is "Hunter". It is marked as being 52" and as being a 45 pound draw.
Anyone know anything about this name. I would think that getting a string for it shouldn't be too hard. What length of arrows will I need?
I don't plan to use it for anything other than shooting arrows at targets so if I can get a little use out of it I'll be happy.
Thanks.

Any local shop should be able to set you up with string and correct length arrows.

Those recurves are alot of fun, enjoy!

For strings, take a look here: http://www.keystonecountrystore.com...n_Recurve_Strings/Page_1/STRREC02__46/12.html

I use that same exact string for my TD hunter bow (w/ 50lb pull).
You can choose the 52" length.

For arrow length you can refer here: http://www.huntersfriend.com/arrowhelp/arrow-selection.htm
In my opinion, you can use anything slightly longer than your draw length
without affecting your shooting at all. I know for a fact that for thousands
of years, people successfully used funky sized arrows (whatever was available). :)

I hope this helps a bit.

"Hunter"

Not sure without bow in hand but probably a BenPearson Hunter series recurve. For supplies of all kinds check out 3RiversArchery.com . Any local proshop should be able to measure you for the proper length arrows and supply any string needs. Be extremely careful it's just as addicting as any of the other shooting sports.

Haven't checked them in years but another good site used to be bowhunters discount warehouse.
