They're currently a groupon deal and they have an online class/test for Oregon CHL permit status, something a friend of mine has been looking for for a while.

As far as their version of the required CHL class, No clue, I just went to the Sheriff's office for my class. No fuss.

"How do I satisfy the competency requirement?

A handgun safety class. Contact community colleges, local gun dealers or gun clubs for class referrals.

The Sheriff’s Office offers a class every Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There is no appointment required to attend this class and the fee is $40. DO NOT bring a handgun to this class. You must bring the certificate or card given to you by the instructor to your appointment. Your receipt does not have the required info. "

Call me crazy ( I won't take offence, we all have our Quirks) , but people offering Coupons tend to thoroughly put me off of anything more important than my weekly Pizza. Given the sad state of Groupon's finances, enough folks agree with me.

With Zero experience with the company, My thought process (in general) tends to see the offering of coupons, (rather than a good basic pricing schedule) as desperation.

The second question is WHY they're desperate.

You might have more luck at the NW firearms Board if Cougfan hasn't pinged you in PM's about it. He's pretty good about poking those of us in the Region. I don't go there too often myself, I have enough to do already, and little enough time to check THR, but it's generally a good site as well. Someone might have good experiences to relate.

Good luck, the process isn't nearly as painful as you might think, and once you turn the paperwork in the turnaround on getting the card is pretty darn quick these days.

Welcome to the world of actively taking responsibility for your own safety.

No, no, quite literally,a friend was looking for an online class, not my friend SWIM(Someone Who Isn't Me--which is really me). I'm going to go through the jacobe group. I did plan to watch their 75 minute video though. I'll tell him online class probably isn't a good idea even if it is half price (he's even more antisocial than i can be which is astounding, it took me six months to meet an online friend who only lives ten minutes from me.).

Good plan, There really is something to be said for face to face interactions. Even for the Antisocial, you have to get the practice in.

Trust me, My wife drags me onto a Boat cruise on the river every year with her Lawyer friends and Insurance cohorts. I even enjoy myself a little bit watching all the drunk people. Not that I'll give her the satisfaction of KNOWING that I kind of enjoy it. At least they're good folks.

Even the Lawyers! :D

Best of luck to both of you!
