The 09s make for one of the best custom actions.
Mr. Fairweather has it right about about the '09 Argentines making into fine custom rifles. If you paid $365. for the rifle you got a good deal for just the action alone, assuming it is in good condition. I have had a number of beautiful custom rifles built on '09s, including this one I had barreled to.35 Whelen, plus modifications to the receiver and bolt. DSC_0233.JPG DSC_0239.JPG DSC_0244.JPG

Jealousy does not begin to describe my feelings towards that rifle! What a beauty! How well does she shoot?

This is exactly what I'm looking for, but made off of an FN Commercial Mauser action.

But, I'd settle for @Offfhand 's example :D

I just fired it to check the feed-ejection and fired case, as the barrel looks in new condition I think it will shoot. as the rifle feeds-fires and ejects, I have mounted a scope(6x leupold) on it to see how it shoots with 225 gr bullets at 2600 fps that my 35 whelen ruger loves.

John used Douglass barrels, mine is a air guaged one. Yours is most likely one to. I see your bolt looks similar to mine. the same safety he did himself. I have the cutters and tools he used to make the safety. All the bolt parts were normally new,

I have three 1891 Argentine's and reload for them, which is why I knew that the cartridge was the 7.65 x 53. Many of the ".30" caliber rifles produced around the turn of the Century had .311 or .312 bores. Recall that the rifling would be a smaller diameter so a .308 diameter bullet would not likely drop through unless the rifling was well worn. From the Enfield, the Arisaka 7.7, the Mosin, to the Argies all used .311 or .312 diameter bullets.
