I've been looking on my usual sites like ammunitiontogo and wideners to name a few. But the ammo I have found is terribly expensive. I know its rare and expensive, but does anyone know a place that stocks it more than others? Thanks!

Grafs sells Hornady for about $25 a box. Retail prices scare the bejeezus out of me but unless you reload that's about it. If you do reload, Grafs also sells PRVI brass for about 50 cents apiece or better yet, with minor trimming chores, you can make them out of the 30-06 family of brass.

If your rifle has a tight chamber you can use formed and trimmed 30-06. Some of the chambers were large and the 30-06 would blow out to the point of dangerous. I have also seen 8MM Mauser cases used, as they are only a MM shorter and I can see where forming and fireforming would be less onerous. I use US Mil '06 cases, as I have a fine chamber in my customized 7.7X58. It is a very easy cartridge to handload and is great fun to shoot, but then, what isn't?

I was lucky enough to find a Type 99 that was rechambered in .30-06. They're great little rifles aren't they?

The only other source for new production ammo that I have found for my Arisaka is Norma. Their ammo is much more expensive then Graf's.
