Here in Connecticut, the Assault Weapons Ban never truly sunset as it did for the rest of the country.

In order for me to legally own an AK-74 (something I want to own very badly) here, I would need one that didn't have a bayonet lug or a folding stock.

There are many AK-74 variants on the market with fixed stocks, so that's easy to find.

The problem that I face is that 100% of the '74s that I've seen have bayonet lugs!!!

I know how easy it is to Dremel off the lugs, but no FFL dealer will allow me to receive one of these pre-surgery rifles....

Does anyone here know of any AK-74s that don't have lugs on them?

BMG Guns on the Berlin TPKE usually has a number of 74s available for purchase.

I would try gunbroker, maybe ask them If they would do it before shipping. Thats a long shot but it sounds like the only one you have.

Update

OK thanks for all the great suggestions so far. So I have looked into the SGL 34-61 and I will probably buy it if I don't come across anything a little cheaper. BMG guns looks great and their website lists that they still sell AK-74's but I will be calling over there on Wednesday to see what they have in stock. I will be posting that here. Also, I have found out Freedom Shoppe in New Milford sells Saiga 12's, Century AK's and Century bullpups, but their prices are pretty high. Jojo's in Southington sells Vz. 58's and WASR-3's. I hope to find a 74 in the 500-600 dollar range and I would prefer if it came with wood furniture.

Let us know what you find at BMG Guns, I haven't been able to get down to Newington all month. I would also love to find an AK-74 that takes standard 30-round mags for around $600.

Drive-by bayonettings are a scourge in CT. The AWB has done nothing to curb the potential for this most heinous crime.

OP, Don't forget that you can't have a threaded muzzle or a non-welded/pinned flashhider either.

I understand it's gotten so bad you can't hardly walk down the street without tripping over the bodies of people who have been bayonetted.

So I called up BMG guns today and they said they had some Century's, some High Standards ($699), and a couple of Arsenals.

Intrac brought in a bunch of AKM-74 clones during the ban years. You should be able to find them online pretty easily, so long as buying a used gun is OK with you...

Those ban-era AKs tend to go for a little bit less than the standard ones because of the lack of features. I see them at gun shows frequently.
