i'm looking to buy a shotgun for HD. i used to own a mossberg 500 years ago, but had to sell it during hard times. i've been shopping around, and i've been seeing pardner more and more often. most of the major chain stores (dick's, gander mt.) carry them, and some of my local gunshops, too. brand new, they cost less than $200. this seems to be a great deal for a 12 gauge pump action, but i've never heard of pardner. if it were a remington or mossie, i'd think it was a steal. unfortunately, around here, either would run at least $200 used. what say you all?

here's a link to the shottie in question: http://www.hr1871.com/Firearms/Shotguns/pardnerPump.aspx

it is a chinese copy of the rem. 870. The one I looked at had a stock that was the size of the Mossberg 500 Youth, which was too small for me. I don't know if they make one with a longer stock, because it wasn't marked youth either.

I ended up with a Mossberg Maverick 88 for 199 brand new, and it was made in Texas :)

thanks, max. look like i'm getting myself one next payday! just have to decide which one; they cost from $149-189 depending on the model.

There is more info on the net about them. The Marlin H&R Excell Auto 5 semi auto shotguns made in Turkey for Marlin are very good shotguns also. They are the same shotgun as the Verona 405 autoloader. I am trying one out now and will post something on it. I have had no FTF with it so far.

The Pardner should be a good shotgun since it's a re-badged Norinco 98 which is a copy of a Remington 870. I have a Norinco 98 and haven't had any problems with it.

Dude, you had a Mossberg, 500 years ago? What is your secret? Just kidding, I have the one you are looking at and it is a nice in-expensive HD gun.
