Looking at buying a 264 win mag. I do plan on reloading for it. Anybody loading for this cartridge? Any problems or things to look out for that you wouldn't normally run into with loading standard cartridges?

I used one as a 1000 yard match rifle shooting Norma 139-gr nickel plated bullets,at normal max pressures. At the time, those bullets were the most accurate ones available. It tested MOA at 1000 and I won a few matches with it. The barrel lasted 640 rounds then degraded to 3 MOA in 4 shots. It's leade advanced .001" every 7 or 8 shots; a real barrel burner.

Best accuracy was with new cases or proper full length sized ones. Best FL die today is one from Forster they've honed the neck to .002"'smaller than loaded round neck diameter; no neck-bending expander ball used. Use a collet die to size belted cases right in front of the belt after full length sizing fired cases setting shoulders back .002". They're available from www.larrywillis.com. Any seater die will do just fine.

I too, load for one. Using the 142gr NABLR and RL33. Took a very nice elk with mine this year. Bought enough bullets to play around with it until the barrel is gone (800 or so) but I'm still quite a ways away from that number. Good shooter and worked well on the elk. With the full freezer I haven't been that mad at the whitetails this year.
Longest I've taken mine out to was 500 yards.
I've read that some folks have problems finding a solid load for the cartridge. I tried 3 powders and the RL33 worked best in mine. Pushing that 142 up to 3225 fps with sub-MOA groups. With the pencil-like barrel mine has, I usually shoot 2 shots then wait for it to cool. The elk took two rounds to put him down for the count.

A friend of mine has two .264's. One is a factory Rem 700, the other id a custom build. He sent this data for comparison to my 6.5-06 AI.

All loads are with 142 gr Sierra MK's
Loads I've worked up to in the Remington 700 .264 win mag with 24 in barrel.

H-4831SC 60 gr 2856 fps 32.0 Sd
VV N-560 60gr 2869 fps 6.0 Sd
VV N-165 58gr 2804 fps 21.3 Sd
IMR 7828 58gr 2844 fps 17.5 Sd*
Rel-25 63gr 2912 fps 5.3 Sd
VV N-170 65gr 2890 fps 30.4 Sd*
Magpro 62gr 2860 fps 69.0 Sd*
H-1000 64 gr 2924 fps 24.7 Sd*
Magnum 66gr 2879 fps 42.0 Sd
Retumbo 63gr 2824 fps 24.0 Sd
VV N-570 66gr 2919fps 23.0 Sd*
H US-869 76gr 3024fps 29.0 Sd

The 30 inch barrel gives another 100 to 200 fps over these loads.
Loads marked with * are not showing signs of pressure on primers yet and so will be increased a grain at a time until pressure signs appear.
The ones not marked with * are likely to be less than a grain or 2 away from max
It seems Sd varies quite a bit between guns so, to an extent, what is good in one may or may not be good in the other. I haven't tried many of these yet in the 30 in barrel..

I think both rifles have 1-8 twist.
