Looking for a light load that my wife will enjoy practicing with. She will use factory defense ammo for CC. Looking for loads that will cycle , but are easier for her range time.

I am using 4.5gr HP38/Win231 under a 124gr plated RN or HP. That is about max load if I remember correctly and that cycles my P938 just fine. You could probably tone it down a few tenths if you wanted. It has been a while since I have shot factory ammo with the exception of occasionally practicing with factory SD ammo that I carry, but even the 4.5gr load feels softer to me. I haven't tried to load down for my small guns, but I can't imagine they'd tolerate too much of a reduction in energy.

You can find data here: http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/Powder.aspx?powderid=10

115 grain plated bullet. i use 7.7 gn blue dot. very soft recoil, low noise and cycles gun fine. shot out of my wifes sig 938 Nightmare and 2 different high point pistols. out of the sig it crono'ed 1098FPS 5 feet from muzzle. a little dirty but i clean my wifes gun every time anyways. if you would like to make cheap rounds, 7.7 gn is alot of powder for a small case, dont use blue dot use a faster powder like red dot or titegroup. i was teaching her how to load and at 96% case capacity you know when you double charge and can check loaded rounds with the scale.

What powders do you have access to?

Thanks for the info. I have Red Dot and Titegroup. I use X-Treme 124g RN for IDPA in a G19, and they run well. I'll order some lighter bullets and try them in the 938. Only shot 20 rounds, so far. 10 Blazer (snappy) and ten 3.2g Red Dot (less snappy but one FTF). I'm sure it will run better after some break-in. Very cool gun. Well made.
