I am interested in picking up a Galil rifle (.223 preferably) but don't know who the best non IMI manufacturer is. I know the 'Golani Sporter' exists, but does anyone have firsthand experience with this? I was also looking at the South African Vektor R4, although they seem to be harder to find than an original IMI. I am considering going for the real deal version but would need to do all the tax-stamp paperwork before anything could happen on that front. Just wondering if anyone knew of something comparable but more reasonable on the price, or that was converted to be semi only.

A real Galil is the Cadillac of AKs. Being an improvement of the Finnish Valmet (who supplied the first Galil receivers. Back in the 1980s , mine would shoot sub MOA groups. But the real deal was a heavy gun...

I've read into them a little, just never cared for spending good money on a glorified AK. I know they're the best out there, judging by the AK fan-base opinion, but no way do I see justifying spending that kind of money on an AK-based platform.
