I sent in my order Yesterday for a CMP Bavarian M1 carbine Service grade with Flip sight. I wasn't going to order one, But the flip sight option made me change my mind.

Anyone else put in a order for one?

Brion

Nope.

I'm out of money because I bought all of the ammo I could, before they ran out.

Nope, spent extra money at the post office to get my order for the regular stuff in two days early, to avoid the rush.

I don't see the point of the extra dough for the Bavarians, meself. If they were the same price as the regular ones I'd order one just for the conversation piece, but paying another hundred or two hundred for the hame (and maybe a flip sight if that's your bag) doesn't make sense to me. I'm sure they'll sell out, though. Carbines are cool.

I heard that. Unfortunately I was too poor and too stupid to buy a bunch of .30 carbine ammo when it was .05/rd. Boy is my wallet paying for it now.

I hope that you loaded up on HXP 30.06 M2 ammo before they ran out.

Well, there's only so much out there.

But if there's one thing I learned about guns, it's that the people who sell them love to stoke fears of a shortage.

And I thought getting a PlayStation 3 was crazy....

Here's tip for you Carbine lovers. I bought my second GI issue about 2 months ago. Don't know the origin, it was at a local Mass Gunshop 10 miles north of Boston.

It was a jamamatic. I was so disappointed - I was really down. But.....I figured that these were so simple that I could find the problem. So I took them both apart, one at a time sequentially. Nothing......looked obvious. Then I came to the Mags! The follower was in backwards in the new Carbine's Mag!

I didn't spot that the follower was in backwards when I loaded it. (Good thing to check when shooting a new mag!)

I searched the Internet to find out which way the spring goes in and I found an author that explained that the high part of the spring must go to the rear of the follower. That way when the bolt begins to push a cartridge.....the one under has more resistance to sinking down and causing a misfeed. There should be more up-push at the primer end of the cartridge. (I didn't know that.)

I don't know which problem was the culprit or if it was a combo but the Carbine no longer jams and I'm very happy with it. Hope the tip helps you some day.

I had no idea they were that close to running out. Is this permanent?

Kinda hard to believe that they went through 60+ million rounds since February of last year. That is only averaging about 3 million a month! For what I have deduced to have been an estimated 4-5 year supply, the panic sure upset.
