I am only interested in the 308 not the 223/556. Also, I already own a Ruger Gunsite scout in 308. I like the idea of the MVP being able to accept the same mags as my AR-10. The mags for the Ruger are stupid pricey. I put money down on a like new used one and was even able to shoot it some today. Most of my shots were wasted as the piccatiny rail was loose and the front toggle needed tightening. Also, the cheap scope that comes with it seems to need a round or 2 through it before it settles in. After I got all that squared away, I switched from the Mossberg Mag with the flat bottom to a an AR-10 Mag with an angled bottom. The AR-10 mag fed a lot smoother but my hold was not as good since I was pivoting on the single point of contact off a lousy bench. All in all, the rifle started to show some potential using Federal Premium Match-king ammo but the cold got the better of me and I had to quit before I had the chance to see what this rifle could really do.
What I would like to know from those of you that own or have at least shot one of these is how accurate are they. Mine is the Patrol rifle with short barrel and open sights as well as the scope. I haven't spent a lot of time with the Ruger but I wouldn't say that it is much better than a 1 MOA gun, maybe 1 1/4 MOA. That isn't great, but it is good enough for what I want it for. if the MVP is as good or better, I may have a Ruger going up for sale.
