I was wondering if anyone that reloads lead bullets in the lyman #358311 mold and has a 9mm how far out you can seat the bullet in the case and still chamber the bullet without touching the rifling. I know it's going to be different for every gun so any one with a CZ would be even better as they have short throats.

I have cast and loaded this bullet by the thousands in .38 spl and .357 bot never in the 9 m/m I think it would be too long.

That bullet is a very poor choice for loading in the 9mm for a whole bunch of reasons.

- The bullet is heavy for the 9mm @160gr.
- The bullet is wide for the 9mm @ .358"
- The bullet is long and probably won't fit in the magazine without taking up so much case space the pressures will be extreme.
- That bullet being for a revolver has a wide deep crimp groove which is unnecessary for semi-auto ammo which might interfere with loading.

Some bullets are just wrong for the application and in this case that's the wrong bullet. If you're looking for a heavy bullet to load in the 9mm take a look at this 147gr bullet mold specifically designed for use in the 9mm.

I hate to say your wrong but.....

-I load a 168gr SWC revolver bullet all the time with great success.
-It's lead so sizing it down is a piece of cake but I size all my 9mm bullets to .358
-Bullet is a lot shorter than the 168 SWC and pressure is not a problem if you know what your doing. I run all loads through Quickload and over a chrono

I leave the 147gr bullet for the amateurs

I'm wondering why you bothered to ask us anything since you already know the answers?

It probably took you longer to start your computer, come to this site and ask the question here than it would have taken you to make one dummy round to see if the bullet hits the rifling.
