Anyone shoot shortened 410 shells out of a 45 colt pistol

I agree -- I have loaded .45 Colt with shot using the two-gas-check approach, with a dab of silicone sealant. But I haven't done it for years because I just don't need such a load.

Why not get several boxes of commercially loaded CCI shot shells, stick a fork in it and call it done. They are plentiful in my area. Or purchase some Speer shot capsules as components and load them yourself with #9's. Speer provides load data for their capsules.

I use the plastic shot capsules to make .45 Colt shot shells and I have also used the shot capsules in auto rim cases to make snake loads for my model 25 in .45 ACP.

Used a .45 ACP taper die to taper crimp the plastic capsules and all were successfully crimped with no breakage. Loads are as effective as commercial ones, and both cheaper & simpler than trying to dick around with .410 hulls.

You might could do it but at best it would scare them off unless ranges are within stomping distance.
I had a Judge with the 3" cylinder and had a hard time killing snakes past 6 feet with No.6 birdshot.
