After a 40 year pause, I am getting back into chasing squirrels. I have hunted 4 mornings and killed 19 grey squirrels. All but 2 have been with a Browning SA 22 with a 1x4 Leupold scope. I had forgotten how much of a challenge it was to hunt Squirrels with a 22. My buddy and i went this morning he shot 8 with a new Yildiz 28ga O/U. He shot 12 times and lost 2!! I shot 7 with my 22.
These are not park squirrels they are wild and skittish!!
Here In south Louisiana the leaves are very thick until late December, it doesn't take long for a squirrel to disappear in all that foliage. If the wind is blowing it is damn near impossible to spot a squirrel in the tree tops. We hunted early and quit when the wind picked up mid morning!
We had a great day!
What say you?
