Anyone subscribe to Armslist

I've made some great local deals from Armslists inception through about 3 years ago...then it got weird. People flagging my posts as a "Scam" ....what, seriously? And a number of scammers themselves asking me to mail them money orders....get real. Do folks really fall for this stuff?

My account has been "pending" administrators approval for the last several years, which makes no sense. It's basically free money they are not taking.
Any idea on this nonsense?

I figure I'd at least give it a try on the new fee based Armslist before I dismiss it completely. Maybe I'll just dismiss it...

On a happier note, the gun club, which has a strict limit of 150 members, which ive been waitlisted for the last 4 years gave me a call the other day, wondering when I'd like to do orientation...

Win some, lose some.

That’s another laugh-
About 6 -8 months back I tried to pay for 1 month just so I could sell a specific item -
My account processing was “ pending” for weeks! Never got processed, never got charged the fee , NUMEROUS emails went unanswered.

Pathetic is waayyy too complementary.

A couple of years ago I joined Armslist. Perhaps it was bad luck but in my first 3 attempts at inquiring about buying guns I encountered scammers. 3 for 3 was all I needed to bail. I don’t bother even looking at Armslist now.

I sold a lot of guns on there when it was free, after it went paid I did pay for a month to sell a few guns and it worked fine.

As soon as they went to a fee based subscription I stopped browsing there and I've gone to more local forums when wanting to sell something. Just isn't worth it. Can't imagine many sellers who sell infrequently would pay for that subscription either. Think they signed their own death warrant with that move.

Now would be a good time for a new organization to come in to take advantage and leave Armslist by the wayside... kind of like Facebook to Myspace....OR a Walmart to K Mart.

This is America, and if you perform poorly at your job in the free market, the people will catch on, and someone new will pick up in your place and do the job better guaranteed....But now that I think more into this...
I realize Armslist has been under heavy fire by certain special interest groups, lawsuits, etc. and if supporting Armslist by paying a modest fee is what is required to keep them afloat, then so be it. But common, then at least let me in to pay the fee.

I liked the idea but the implementation has been lousy for a long time. I did buy a S&W revolver there once. Nice gun for a fair price. I also sold some ammo right before it went paid. At the time I got the going rate, but it did take a couple weeks. No luck selling the rifle though, I needed cash for a house down payment, and got all sorts of very enticing trade offers that ordinarily I’d have jumped all over, but nobody wanted to put down the ~$1500 or so it was worth. I sold it on Gunbroker.

I've still used it, I've got the free account so I can still read private listings.

Can't contact anyone that dosen't list their contact info in the description though.

I've had a lot of luck on there over the years. It's more of a hassle than it used to be, but it still works.

If I've got something to list myself, I use one of the free local boards. But I still go and browse on Armslist occasionally.

I used to use it years ago, but with fees nothing but ffls and scammers, no thanks.

Went to gunownersclub.com now they are charging fees. Have already noticed the shifting to ffl and less private adds.

What are you fellows in middle TN using now?

I hadn’t looked at Armslist for a year. Looked the other day. Want to see asking price—have to have an account. Huh? They must be running the site as some weird kind of tax write-off or something, because I can’t see not allowing potential buyers to see prices. Hundred-year-old newspaper ads listed prices—this is not advanced twenty-first-century marketing knowledge.

Hey gents, it's not Armslists fault. We have the Democrats and Liberals to blame for the state of that site. These monsters have sued Armslist off the internet so please place the blame where it belongs - with Democrats and Liberal sue happy scumbags.

I have in the past purchased a number of firearms on Armslist. Also ran across a few scammers.

Now on general principal I refuse to pay someone for the privilege to walk into their store to just shop and look. Also refuse to pay you to ask what a item costs only to find out the price is way out of line. Same reason why I do not visit flea markets. Not going to pay for parking and then pay again to gain entrance just to walk around to look and see if there is anything of interest.

I had success with Armslist before they required a paying membership. Last year I paid for 3 months and got nothing but scams and offers from illegal buyers. None of my my guns moved and none of the tire kickers even tried to low-ball me. It's a wasteland. Also, when I tried to cancel it took a month!

I went there for the first time in a while and now you have to be logged in to see prices. I tried to log in but the site required me to give them a valid cell phone number in order to proceed. I don’t think so.

That’s a shame because I did some great deals thru Armslist both as a buyer and seller. If they would just go to a seller-financed model I would come back, but for now they are dead to me.

No longer. It was extremely helpful when information was Open.

Before their red-tape, nickel-and-dime polices began I made about (14) fourteen gun deals in west TN, and about three selling surplus ammo.
Luckily my gun interests had changed enough and become stable, no longer need their services.

Two local buddies bought five handguns and a rifle which were simply variety guns.
Please excuse me now - I need to go clean my brand-new PTR-91, bought a few weeks ago on Gunbroker. :)

Stopped using Armslist when they started charging fees. Still waiting for someone to start up a new venue that's free.
