I got a stainless T3X in 6.5 Creedmoor (my first 6.5) and topped it with a Leupold CDS scope. Hoping to build a 500 max yard deer gun with this setup. I reload for all my deer rifles (currently 30-06, 7mm-08, 44 Mag, and 357 Mag) so I'll be loading for the 6.5 too.

I've been buying parts and components for the build and reloading for awhile now and finally got everything I need but the bullets. They are very hard to find right now so when I do find some I need to grab a few hundred.

Has anyone used the 6.5 Gamechanger bullet? I can load with Varget or H4350, I'm thinking H4350 for the 130g bullet would try Varget if other's have had luck. Any first hand experience with this bullet would be awesome.

Not in a Creedmoor, but I’ve used the 6.5 Gamechangers in my Grendel. So far,I’ve used them only on paper, and with acceptable accuracy, but I haven’t done a lot of experimentation with them. I’m planning on using them out to 600 yards on paper, and half that on game, once I get a good load dialed in.

How exactly does the game change? A deer into a pig?

I was going to try, but what if it changed a deer into a gator? I don’t know how to field dress a gator.
ya just shoot it again.......

im looking forward to hearing how you guys do with them. Im finally down to my last few hundred 147elds. Im planning on trying a few different bullets in the 130-140 range as that seems to be where I want the CM to be for what i do, and the GCs are on the list.

I bought a couple of boxes of 130gr and used them for culling does on a farm. They shoot well out of my M18 Mauser with groups running around an inch. Had good luck with R-17 with this bullet. H4350 worked as well but I could get a little more velocity with the R-17. Terminal performance is much like a Ballistic Tip. Major destruction if bone is hit. I recovered 2 bullets. One weighed 82 grains and had a good mushroom. The other was mostly jacket after ruining a shoulder and ribcage.

Over the last 5 seasons I have tried several different bullets on deer. The 143 ELD-X, 129gr Accubond LR, 130 gr TGK and 130 gr Accubond. I will be going back to my 130gr Accubonds after this box of TGKs is gone. Well, I say that now, but I just loaded some 140 Speer HotCors to play with. I still have a Christmas and doe season on another farm.

Jonnys reloading bench is actively hunting them this season along side the speer gold dots for comparison. I dont currently hunt but I watch all his stuff, because i appreciate his load development process. Might be worth a look.

I shoot accubonds out of my 30-06 and Sierra Pro-Hunters out of my 7mm-08.
I was thinking the mild velocity of the 6.5 deserves a tipped bullet that is not bonded. Suprised to hear you say they perform like BTs. I thought the BT was a lighter designed bullet than the Sierra Gamechangers....

Most of my deer have been under 100 yds and I was only cranking them about 2700 fps. The deer out at 200+ yards still had some major damage if you were on the shoulder. If I kept it behind the shoulder it would leave an exit hole about an 1"-1 1/2".

It changes them from the mythical one that got away to dinner.;)

Launching them out of our .243s, I'd rank them as less tough than our 95 btips (closer to sst maybe?), but more tough than the 90 btips. Game changers in .243 are 90 gr. I'd hoped they'd be as tuff as a prohunter, and it seems like you WILL get an exit, but possibly exits.... Honestly, they're tougher than a Berger but just about right for @LoonWulf splodey styles. If I was going after game bigger or tougher than deer/pronghorn with the .243, I'd move to prohunters/bonded bullets, or monos. In something like a .308, I'd trust them for larger game (i.e lower launch speeds), they ARE a great deer bullet especially for the trend of shooting farther than 150 yds.
