Anyone try Hornady Zombie Bullets?

So then what are Dum Dum Rounds for? Cause man I run into a heck of a lot more Dum Dums than Zombies

No doubt!....The fact that these would be purchased as a collectable, rather than literally for zombies, escapes sum sums. :banghead:

i guess in the end its just a name... but still it irks me that they jumped on the zombie bandwagon. Irritates me just as much as the zombie targets appearing at all the gun ranges. I'll stick to the little rifle targets for my pistol shooting thank you very much! ;)

It's really no different than collecting other memorabilia. I doubt anybody thinks when they buy a colt peace maker that they are gonna head out and rob a train or find some horse thief Indians to shoot up. I'm guessing if you buy a replica Rambo knife your not gonna be contacted to do a top secret mission to Vietnam. It's just in the name of fun.

Novelty Items are just that, novelty items. If you don't like them don't buy them, there is nothing to get worked up about. To follow along the logic of those who don't like them, why stop at novelty items? what the heck do we need "Commemorative" Models for? No sense to them at all is there? you buy them at exorbitant prices and never use them for their intended purpose which is shooting. Get rid of it all if you ask me, no sporting point to the Tactical Rifles either right? get rid of them too!
We are a varied demographic and what suits one might not suit another, that doesn't mean one of us gets to dictate what the others do as long as it has no detriment to all of us.
A persons right to wave his arms about ends where another persons nose begins.
To each his own in other words

FWIW : Silver isn't for Vamps... You need phosphorus for that :)

Said it once, and I'll say it again...bring on the zombie ammo.

Zombie rounds : NEED IT, LOVE IT, WANT MORE OF IT !

I wanna see hornady bullet commercials all over the walking dead series.

I wanna see ZMAX extra sugar breakfast cereal.

I wanna see little timmy's zombie gummi bears pouch in his lunchbox, with a 50 cent coupon for ZMAX 22lr on the side. Shotgun shell red looks good in fruity shapes and colors, don'tcha think ?

If I bought a box of cracker jacks, and it had a hornady logo temporary tattoo in it, I'd slap that sucker on my forehead.

WHY ?

GUN PR. Thats why.

There are so many people completely ignorant of guns and their trappings, that every time the anti's saber-rattle...they get all mushy and scared.

Anything that we as a consuming section of the public do that makes firearm use more acceptable and mainstream is positive.

Anything that draws intelligent people into conversation about the "realities" of our 2nd Amendment "hobbies" ( for lack of a better catch all) is overwhelmingly positive.

The younger you can draw folks in to a positive experience with a product, the more likely they are to stay users ( and defenders ) of that product throughout their lives...if not specifically loyal to your brand.

The cowboy gun craze certainly snagged a lot of lifelong shooters in the 50's... I hope to see just as many snags with zombies.

Maybe I'm just being an old fart, but I'm disappointed that Hornady would take off on such a silly marketing scheme.

Amen!
Several years ago I saw a shirt and purchased it, the shirt had a picture of a 7.62X54Rmm round on the back and said "Zombie Slaying since 1891" or something to that effect and at that time it was kind of cool but that was before this whole zombie craze went overboard. Now everything from Survival Zombie Ammo Cans, Guns, and Ammo is being sold for zombie slaying... kind of stupid if you ask me. You would have a better chance of sighting in the "Chupacabra" at a Terlingua, TX. Chili Cookoff eating Carroll Shelby's Texas Chili with Carroll Shelby himself!:D

This may not be considered too "High Road" but come on.....

Anyone truly believing they're buying firearms related, zombie marketed memorabilia for the sole intent and purpose of slaying zombies, instead of purchasing light hearted memorabilia, is an idiot....and anyone believing the companies capitalizing on these marketing schemes are actually doing so to provide the consumer with a way to literally slay zombies may even be more of an idiot. :scrutiny:

Cabela's ahd the 9mm zmax ammo at 16.99 a box. I bought two boxes (but I've got two boxes in every caliber for calibers I own just to have it, I like the packaging...), wish I had more money on me at the time, cheaper the the CD ammo at that price.

Fastcast:
Believe it or not I have been around a few young people that believe some kind of Apocalyptic Zombie world could exist (I am not joking). It's not about being an idiot in general terms... I firmly believe companies like Hornady don't believe in real zombie slaying weapons and neither do I, but to the level that it has gotten to I think only breeds a recipe for disaster, especially for people who are not found legally insane yet that still have the ability to purchase and own firearms. I am telling you all it is going to take is some nut job that has seen one too many zombie flicks, and other crazy junk to flip out and kill someone claiming they thought the person was a zombie and best of all they used their Zombie Slayer AR-15 w/ Zombie Ammo .223 Rem. (News at 10:00)
Just for the record I don't blame Hollywood, or heavy metal music for corrupting people, but there are a bunch of crazy people in this world.

Interesting line of reasoning. Who would those future offenders be?

Interesting line of reasoning. Who would those future offenders be?

You never know who they might be, and no I don't believe in sniffing them out either (that is something Nazi Germany did), it's just a simple fact that there are unstable people out there... period. I have a CHL and some of my co-worker's have started asking me questions about it, many of the questions they ask are what kind of screening do you go through? Do you have to be cleared by a licensed psychiatrist, what if you take drugs for depression, etc.. etc.. And many of them are suprised when I tell them "no" to the psychiatrist part of it. I would venture to say that over 95% of legal gun owners or more are mentally stable, and most likely will never have any serious mental issues arise, but there are alway's going to be that small % of people that you will never know until it's too late and no there is not anything anyone can do to stop it most times. All I was saying is that it's bad enough when someone "unstable" goes out and kills someone or a multitude of people with a gun let alone the "one" person who does it with "Zombie Killing" memorabilia. Believe me I hope it never happens, and when the fad fades and no one was hurt in that way then I will be eating crow and I will be a very happy man! I am however a skeptic at heart, I like many other people have seen some pretty bad things come out in some people and will make you think twice about something... that's all. (Not that I am all gloom and doom, make no mistake I have also seen many good things in people... I am and have alway's been a very cautious person but that is just because of who I am and where I have been.)

Given the price of silver I cannot afford Vapire-Max ammo. Does anyone know if these will work on Vampires and/or Ware-wolves?

They already have V-Max rounds and that's what I have loaded in my AK 74 mags right now. What we do need is W-Max rounds. Silver tipped rounds for killing werewolves. I would buy that stuff in a heart beat if they made it for 5.45 x 39!
