I'm looking at the new Ruger SR9 and the Sig P226 SCT, both in 9mm.
I read the thread for the SR9. Has anyone bought or tried the new Sig P226 SCT?

Thanks for any replies.

Was the P226SCT just a standard P226 w/ different sites and additional capacity magazines? Or was there some other goodies added to it as well?

You don't mention price as a concern, but I'd think the Sig is going to be $200 or more than the Ruger.

Q: Can I use the P226SCT 20rd mags in my Sig P226 Blackwater 9mm? Will they fit flush? I have the Mec-Gar 17rd mags ($20 each from CDNN) and THOSE fit flush.

No, they won't fit flush. If you go on Sig's website you will see that they stick out about 1" from the bottom of the grip: http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/ShowCatalogProductDetails.aspx?categoryid=7&productid=202

Not too bad, but it gives the feel of it being a little more massive than a normal P226 w/ flush mags. IMO the P229 SCT is definitely cooler looking than the P226 SCT. I personally have to choose between the two before my birthday in January..can't wait:) I still like the P226 alot, so we'll see what happens!

Get the Sig. I'm sure Rugers are nice, I've only shot one and it didn't do much for me. I love their revolvers.

If you buy the Sig you won't look back and say "I should have bought the Sig". I'm positive you won't buy the Sig and look back and say "I should have bought the Ruger".

10-Ring, That actually makes me like them even more.:p
Sucks for CA people tho.

I own the P226 SCT w/ Lasergrips and TacLight. It's a tack driver and I have put over 500 rds so far w/ out a hiccup!

Must...resist...urge...to...buy...new...piiiiiiiistolll!! Getting...weak...must...be...strong! Thank goodness there wasn't a picture in this thread!

My word...last night I was reading my latest magazine and turned to the centerfold page...there she was in all her glorious, curvy, hard body...an STI Target pistol! That'll get your blood pumping. Now, I wake up and see this new Sig!!!!

What's a man to do?!

I looked at a P226 SCT and the changes that I noted were TruGlo TFO front sights, forward serrations and of course, the "super capacity" magazines. When I held it, it reminded me of an X-5. The price was $920 for the model that I was looking at. I opted for a P229 Equinox instead.

When I left active duty and went into LE, my duty weapon was a P229 .40. Still have it and have fired thousands of rounds through it with no problems. Just had it re-springed and refinished from Sig. Looks brand new!

I love Sig's, however I held the SR9 a week or two ago and it was quite a bit smaller/slimmer than a P226, which is definitely a trait worth considering for a CCW. 17+1 is good enough, besides if you need more than that you'd probably have more serious problems. ;)
