A buddy brought a 597 over for me to tune his trigger, having about an 8 lb pull. Anyone smoothed up the factory trigger and extractor on these without using drop-in parts?
I have a 597 magnum and was going to do something to mine for some time. But life got into the way and all I ever did was shoot about 4K rounds through it. The trigger still feels as heavy as it was new but the internals have polished up decently due to use. If I ever get around to it I may still work on lightening up the trigger pull but that does not keep me from shooting it well now so I am not in a rush. If you do I would be interested on how much better you get it.
Unless they have improved the materials and construction of the guts, you are wasting your time. Better to bite the bullet and buy quality aftermarket parts if you want the job to last.
