I bought a bottle of this stuff a couple of days ago and I used a few drops to lube my Colt King Cobra. What struck me about it was it has the color and consistancy of motor oil, but not the smell. Additives would be my guess. Perhaps the guys who use Mobil 1 know what they're doing.

Anyone else use Corrosion X? Opinions?

Yes.

I flew helicopters in the Gulf of Mexico for 29 years, one of the most corrosive atmospheres that you can imagine.
Corrosion X was a mainstay and worked very well and you can bet if there was something better to use on our multi million dollar helicopters we would have been using it.

Just two things. I'm not sure how good a lube it is, it may be very good.
Second it's probably a pretty good penetrating oil so you don't want the chamber, face of the bolt or inside the magazines sloppy wet with it.

It is not a cleaner as such. It doesn't do a good job of cleaning off rust and corrosion. The way it works is it penetrates to the surface of the metal and protects it from further damage.

Also it doesn't harm most materials, like plastic grips. It can be sprayed directly into such things as plastic electrical connections.

I use it on my pistols as a CLP product.

I don't know about rust as I don't let any rust form. It does a good job of loosening caked on powder fouling. Wet a patch with it, pull it through and then keep feeding clean, dry patches through until they come out clean. On other surfaces a little dab then a lot of wiping to remove excess and any crud it lifts.

I don't put on any extra for lubrication. I clean with it, dry and assemble.

Even when a reloaded case ruptures and sprays crud back on me (let alone inside the gun) the gun can keep firing (after a quick inspection).
