I have some of both of these powders 2028 is adjacent to Unique on the burning rate chart and E3 is close to Red dot on the chart. anyone using these clean burning powders for 38/357. I like the low power target /plinking loads with 124 and 160 grain cast bullets.

My shooting buddy used E3 for 38 Spl. and loves it. I think he loads it like you would Bullseye even though the burn rate is very close to Red Dot, it is more energetic than Red Dot.

The next batch of cartridges I load will be E3 in 45acp with cast bullets......of course.

20/28 is less bulky or more dense than Unique with maybe a slightly faster burn rate. I certainly wouldn't be afraid to try it if I already had a bunch of it.

i plan to try some low power 38 sp loads with some 2028 first as it is very close to unique. i'll reduce the minimum unique loads by 10% and give it a try. i'll report my results here.

I tied using E3 in 45 CAP with 185 gr. LSWC's. I could not discern any improvemnt in cleaness of burn vs VV N-310, WST or Clays. My favorite bullseye psitol load with the 185 gr. LSWC is 3.8 gr. HS-700X, Rem 2.5 and 185 gr. LSWC at ca 720 fps - not very clean but superbly accurate and mild to shoot.
