Anyone use this .22lr ammo?

Is basically like a Stinger equivilant but a bit faster, the limited amount I have used works fine. If you have a need for hyper velocity 22lr I see no reason not to use it. Is 30 grains obviously!

Smells funky and is VERY smoky, but it goes bang, is reasonably accurate and is definately FAST.

I was figuring since its not terribly expensive, it might be worth a shot. I figure hotter .22lr ammo will be good for use with the kadet conversion. That way when I switch to 9mm I will be better prepared. Since I am not going to be shooting at anymore then 50ft, the accuracy shouldn't be to big of a concern. I suppose I will try a bunch of brands before I buy a bunch of it, considering for all I know it might not be reliable in the CZ. I have been eying wolf .22lr, and it looks to be a hot ticket. Trial and error is the best recipie I guess :D

I bought it when it first came out.

I can't find my records but I chronographed it in pistols and rifles and their advertised velocity was way off. Not close to 1,750 fps.
As I recall it was the same as Stingers.

It was also fairly inaccurate.

I've been shooting the Aguila Standard Velocity 22LR in everything that will function with Standard Velocity. It's the most accurate inexpensive 22 I've seen.

IIRC, I had tried some out someone gave me at the range (we traded some ammo, I had given him some Woolf Match Extra, I got the short end of the deal). Wold not function in the modded 10/22 I had that day. Shot them through a CMP Kimber 82. Gun did not like the ammo, groups were well above 1" at 50 yds. (Regularly 0.50" and lower at 50 yds with match ammo.) As noted above, Aquila's answer to the Stinger including the longer case. It seemed to shoot well for the guy I got the ammo from.

.30 grain bullets

If it has anything to do with guns had has a "30" in
it you stick a "." in front of the "30"--seriously, have
you not seen ads for .30-.30 ammo for deer season?

It's about 3 times more expensive than other bulk pack .22lr ammo. Remington Golden Bullets are about $8.00 for 500.

no i have used the 60grain, aquila ammo the sss stuff in my mark 3 22/45. and it worked good, i haven't had any bad luck with aquila (sp)? sorry i can't help you more.

I had a real bad experience with stingers quite a few years back. We had some neighbors dogs out in the pasture chasing our thoroughbred race horses. I grabbed a 10-22 that was loaded with stingers and headed out. I engaged the leader of the pack at around 15 yards, he was a golden retriever looking dog. Seven solid hits with a scoped .22 and not very effective. He made it home over a quarter mile away and died on the owners porch. I felt really bad that the dog made it home like that and on top of it the sheriff cited them for dog at large. I have never bought any more hyper velocity light bullet .22 ammo. I learned that stingers + dog = bad. 40gr .22 solids high velocity + dog = better. 12 ga with buckshot + dog = best.

A couple of months after that happened I got a couple of chocolate lab pups from a buddy. I was on the way home with the pups still feeling bad about how it had went down with the neighbors dog. I pulled into their driveway and the guy and his wife come out as I am walking up to the house. They were still a bit upset. I explained to them that I am an animal owner and an animal lover and that as an animal owner I have a responsibility to take care of my animals as all animal owners do. I also told them that our horses are my responsibility to take care of and to protect. I told them that I was really sorry for what had happened but if dogs are chasing my horses on my property they would probably get shot. The guy understood but his wife seemed to be getting more upset. I said look, I know this won't make up for what happened but my Buddy's dog just had pups a while back and he gave me a couple, their in my truck. These are pure bred chocolate lab pups that are very smart. I walk back to my truck and get them out. I walk back up the walk with one in each arm then set them down. Then I say if you want one you can have your pick, the only string attached is that you have to promise to love this dog and take care of it.

The dogs weren't on the ground a minuet and the wife is down there with them. I made a couple of very good friends that day. Jerry and I have been bird hunting for a few years now and we both have excellent bird dogs that are also very protective on the property. Cathy comes over all the time and her and my wife go riding the pony horses with the dogs. Life is good.

I have a brick of the Aguila Super Maximums. In informal plinking sessions with my Ruger Single Six, Browning BL-22 and my Buck Mark Bullseye it shot about like the other bulk pack stuff I had. Over at Rimfire Central a number of folks have found that the Romanian Trainer rifles shoot it very well.
I have found that Aguila makes excellent rimfire ammo. Their standard velocity and subsonic 22lr ammo is some of the most accurate stuff you can buy.

Yes I failed to mention that the Aguila Eley methood primed ammo smells terrible. 10 rounds rapid fire in indoor range booth makes me gag!

Super Max ammo: it shoots like bulk ammo (little larger in most of my firearms), but faster with smell (moderate MHO). They cost about twice the usual Rem. Golden HPs i shoot.

Thunderbolts: STAY away. i destroyed two conversion barrels in 2 months with that stuff. Also bought my usual 4 'bricks' (boxes) of bulk Rem. Golden HP and must have bought the last box filled on a friday afternoon before a 3 day weekend - full of flattened rounds, dirt, dust... The obvious ones were mutilated, the ones that really burnt me were the ones on visually messed up that required punching them out of chamber thru the muzzle. i have shot 10,000's of these in the last year, with the usual 1-2% malfunctions, but this box was a nusaince.

Shooting dogs: Dogs are tough sons'o'bitchs. i too am an animal lover and just put a deposit on a Cane Corso. i also have been in multiple situations when a dog (or other animal) has become a liability. Many a dog has been shot by a few bursts from an MP5 and still managed to harm officers/military personnel. From Pits to Labs, if you decide to shot an animal- go big (caliber) and/or go small (aim for the brain). Feel free to go big on the small, just be sure of your backstop.

CZ Cadet conversion: i would recommend you try the hyper velocity stuff to try to cycle your Cadet, OR try to go heavy with some 40 gr. standard velocity. My 22/45 (stock) started eating CCI Minimags yesterday and loves them, as accurate as CCI GreenTag, but half the price. i don't think $5/100 is cheap/blasting ammo, but it will be my new ammo for bullseye league.

possum w/ SSS ammo: didn't that long bullet yaw after a few yards? i have shot that in 3 different .22s and though cool, it is sideways at 10 yards. Though it is sometimes more accurate sideways than some bulk ammo i shoot.

glad i finally registered in THR. miko

I find Aguila Hyper V's to be less accurate than CCI stingers from my 10/22. As for flat shooting and devastating on small game they are, if you can hit the target, I'll stay with the stingers.
