I am contemplating on getting the J&T Bull Barrel Kit, but I want to know the details with such as brands of the product. Has anybody had a bad run in with this company whether it be with bad quality in their products or whatever else it may be. How does this option match up against versus getting the RRA Predator Pursuit Upper and getting my trigger kit, stock, and pistol grip separate? What are the discrepancies between these 2 different products?

I went with Rock River. The RRA Pursuit and Varmit A4 are Wilson Barrels. J&T told me theirs are ER Shaw. The general consensus and my understanding was that Wilson is a better barrel in that type of barrel or at least in the stainless steel. I'm sure others have a different opinion. I would bet that the average shooter won't see any difference

What I liked about J&T was it makes it easier for me because it has the kit. My main use for it will be varmint hunting anywhere up to a few hundred yards.

Anybody just share how J&T products worked out for you. Are they accurate enough for varmints out to a few hundred yards?

I have a J&T 20" HB upper on a Doublestar lower (same company). They work quite well.

WRT accuracy for varmints out to a few hundred yards, that isn't an issue of brand. What barrel, configuration, twist, bullet weight, etc. do you plan to get?

An M4gery shooting 5.56 WWB probably won't be that accurate. A free-floated bull barrel with some good handloads could easily be that accurate.

I have a Doublestar outfit. Good stuff. Good company to deal with. Last couple times I called, the owner was the one answering the phone. You get good CS that way.:D

I was planning on getting the 20" bull barrel kit, but I don't know whether I should get it threaded or crowned or whatever else option there is. I also don't know what twist to get. I was planning on shooting majority .55 grain ammo.

Excuse me they have coated, fluted, and ported. With 16, 20, 22, 24 inch barrels. They have 1x8 twists or 1x10 twists.

Which of these combinations would be best for varmint hunting within say 300-450 yards?

The twist will depend on the bullet: Heavier, longer bullets should have a faster twist.

The length of the barrel depends on your trade off between being handy and wanting higher velocity. A rule of thumb that has been quoted for years is that each additional inch of barrel length will give you 25 to 50 fps velocity. My personal rule of thumb is that each additional 100 fps velocity will give you 10 more yards of "point blank" range (that is, you can hold dead on without having to hold over the target).
