OK, I'm giving in to the Dark Side and building an A2 style AR. I've pretty much settled on a Stag lower. I've found two places for upper kits with roughly comparable pricing.

The first is J&T Distributing. $450 for an A2 kit with everything but the lower receiver.

Second is M&A Parts, Inc. $425 for the same thing.

Anyone have experience, good, bad or otherwise, with either of these companies?

I've built several ARs using JT parts kits. The only two problems that I've ever had was an out of spec safety lever on one and a gas key that needed to be restaked on the other. Otherwise I didn't have any trouble.

The only downfall I've had with JT is their shipping times. Unless they have changed they will take a couple of days before they get your order out.

Ordered a kit from M&A about a year ago, very pleased with the quality of the product and their service was extremely fast! I had placed another order at a later date and got the same fast service.

M&A has a pretty bad rep from the posts over on www.ar15.com which contains comments about everything AR.

I picked up a Model 1 Sales upper, there were a few negative comments here and there, but not nearly as much as for M&A. J&T seems to be higher rated than Model 1 Sales also.

I'm a regular on AR15.com, I don't know where you got the idea that M&A has a bad reputation on that board. I had been a member of that board for a while before I ordered from M&A, I did a lot of research and had read numerous good comments about M&A before I ordered, I wouldn't have ordered from them if they had a bad reputation.

In general the reputations of Model 1, M&A, and J&T are all pretty good, they seem to break down in this order.

1-J&T seems to have the best reputation, but there have been a few negative posts lately about them being slow

2-M&A Parts has a generally good reputation overall, I got excellent service from them

3-Model 1, the quality of their parts comes under question sometimes, but they have a good reputation on their service.

This is a Fulton Armory Lower, RRA Lower parts kit and stock, M&A "DCM" upper. Finish between the upper and lower is a perfect match and fits snug - no rattle.

This was @ 100 yards with Black Hills 68gr. HP match ammo, from the bench. So far I haven't done anything with this rifle other than play around and try to get it "broke in". Have put about 200 rounds of assorted ammo thru it with no malf's of any kind.

Although I had "sort-of" shot for groups before, this was the first serious attempt to see what I could do.

Considering my scoped '06 deer rifle will only do about 3/4 - 1" groups at 100 yards, I will take a 1 1/2" group with iron sights any day of the week.

All-in-all, I'm a Happy Camper[:D]
