A previous thread http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=123298 exposed the disgusting "research" concerning the 2nd Amendment being conducted by Saul Cornell of the John Glenn Institute at the Ohio State University.
I am an Ohio State student. I write for a student conservative/libertarian opinion paper (www.osusentinel.com). I would - along with many of my friends and fellow writers - like to see Mr. Cornell removed from his post of director of the "Second Amendment Research Center at the John Glenn Institute".
My friend, and colleague at the paper, has been aware of Mr. Cornell's incredibly biased research since the founding of the John Glenn Institute. He has tracked and documented the Institute's anti-gun policy for over a year, and is privy to all of their obnoxious activities, including the $300K they received from the Joyce Foundation. We have wanted to publish a story exposing the research but for various reasons, have so far been unable to. Now, we have a perfect opportunity to not only publish a condemnation, but also make a public effort to remove Mr. Cornell and possibly shame the foundation into more objective research.
In the previous thread, a member left instructions for contacting Mr. Cornell with your grievances. Let me make the appeal to all Highroaders looking to unseat a deserving anti, this is what we need:
-Letters written to the John Glenn Institute, or the Ohio State University, critizing Cornell's lack of objectivity. Saul has already made up his mind; we need to influence the people above him. Most likely they have made up their minds as well, but discrediting their objectivity is a sure way to shake them.
-In particular, I've noticed some highroaders are particularly knowledgeable about the second amendment's historical context. Anyone able to point out documented lapses in Mr. Cornell's research, or anything else in our support, should drudge that material out, and cite it your letter. The more scholarly, the better!
-I stress that writing letters to Saul, or just ranting about your right to bear arms to the Institute is futile at best. At worst, it adds fuel to their fire. To beat them, to discredit them, to make the University shamed by them, we need to wage a calculated attack instead of disorganized, angry rantings.
Thanks in advance to all who support us.
