I mailed my application for the Florida CCW this past Saturday, 5/20.

I am wondering how long it will take to get approved and get it in the mail.

Has anyone applied recently and received their Florida CCW recently that could give feedback on how long processing time is taking these days?

Luke

About 2 months. Much shorter than what they say in the information packet. If you don't have one, consider buying a KelTec P3AT or P32. I find I can't carry much else comfortably here in Florida with the clothes I wear.

I got mine (In State) about 6 years ago and back then it took 90 days. Now I routinely hear it taking about 30 days. But again, that is in resident permit, I don't know about non-resident permits.

4 Weeks

I just received mine a month ago. I submitted my fingerprints electronically. From day of submission to delivery it was four weeks.

Like others, I was surprised to receive the license in an unsealed envelope.

Sorry to double post but Flashman is right. On the license, I look like a low level capo. I submitted an okay picture but when they create the license they use an Adobe OC filter.

67 days, I am in Ohio and had to use the ink fingerprint cards which are said to take longer to process than the electronic print method.

Just over 4 weeks

I live in North Central Florida and got my license about 6 months ago. I got my prints scanned electronically to cut down the return time. Got my license in the mail in just over 4 weeks. Good luck!

+1 to flashman and hudson. I have a fairly heavy beard, but the picture makes it look like my beard goes to my chest (shadows). The picture frightens small children and women. :D

Oh well, what can you do.

Took about 6 weeks for mine.

I received my Florida license about 2 or 3 months ago. I took from the day I mailed it including weekend and holidays 82 days. it would of been about a week sooner but they had to send me a letter requesting more information. I faxed the info back to them and had my license in 5 days. So basiclly just be prepared for 3 months. On another note the people at the permit department were oddly enoough very pleasant and helpful!

I got mine in 55 days, manual fingerprints.

Be advised. The State of Floriday sells it's mailing list of CCW holders. It is public information in Florida. You will get an offer for that nifty CCW badge thingy in the mail. I get about two a year.

How do you know they sell it? Is there evidence of that somewhere? The fact that it's public info may be enough to explain how you get on someone's mailing list.

I sent mine in on the 6th (from AR). I sent it return receipt requested, but have received the receipt yet. But the check I sent cleared on the 18th, so I'm assuming they got it.

From what most are saying, I'm expecting a wait of 2 months. That's what it took for my AR CHL.

How do I know they sell the list? Ask them, they'll tell you. The local paper in St.Louis did an article on the number of FL out of state licenses were bought by people from Missouri. If a newspaper can get it, anyone can. But don't take my word for it, call the Department of Agriculture and ask them.

Here in MO members of a board I am on all get the same advertising piece form the same company at the same time a couple times a year. Coincidence....I think not.

Getting the numbers of permit holders is nothing. Call and they tell you helle they probably have the yearly stats like Louisiana does. Louisiana shows how many denied permits and why they were that year, how many approved, how many renewed. They also show each of those by age, city, parish, and zip code but no names.

how do you go about getting a florida non resident permit? do I go through though my state's permit office? I've been thinking about getting one since NY doesn't get you very far with other states

I had considered getting a FL non-resident permit in the past, to increase my state coverage. I just compared FL and MI's reciprocity maps side by side. looks like I wouldn't gain any coverage with FL. in fact, MI has reciprocity with all the states that FL does, plus a few! when did that happen??
