When I checked the mail today, I was amazed to see my new CCW waiting for me. I applied in late February, and Nevada law says that they have 120 days to issue it. And Clark County has a reputation of taking the entire time. In fact, another member just posted that they took much longer for his to arrive. Now I'm complete. I applied for Utah and Florida permits and mailed the application the same day that I applied for Nevada. Utah arrived in 30 days, after saying that they had 60 to issue, and Florida came in just under the 90 days that they promised. But now I can carry in my home state. I can even go back to the MGM again :)

Have fun! I've gotten pretty used to carrying in all the casinos, but going into banks still freaks me out a little. Probably because I rarely go inside them!

My permit took more that 120 days - they could care less. I have to start the renewal process next month because mine expires in Nov. (non-resident permit).

Better get that new-fangled 13+1 XD 45 for going to the MGM - I just got that gun and am awaiting leather for it. It will go on my permit!

ive actually been wondering about nevada. I drive up to vegas once maybe twice a year and i was actually wondering what the laws are like up there. Seeing that you are from nevada maybe you can enlighten me on what i can and cant do up there or link me to a website that will tell me. I always leave my gun at home....and to tell the truth i dont like it much.

I let my CCW expire in February.
I keep meaning to take care of that, but haven't really made any effort. Since February I have purchased several guns and had to do the Brady thing.
I was going to take the CCW class at Frontsight but have never been able to pull it off.

Don, you can do yours in Nye country now ? By the way, I got your PM, sorry I didn't get back to you yet. I read it, was busy at the time and forgot.

Arizona: there is a website, I think it is www.packing.org but I can't bring it up right now. I know that several years ago, Nevada and Arizona got reciprosity (sp). I know I always carry in Arizona. Just went through Chino Valley a couple weeks ago.
Update: www.packing.org finally loaded. There is a lot of new stuff on the front page that is going on in Arizona right now.

next time you come through this way let me know and maybe we can go do some shooting or something. Shoot ill be in vegas very soon....i need to get away from work for a while.

Ok.
I was going to Gunsite there for awhile but haven't made it for more than a year. The last time I was down there was to get a shotgun barrel from Hans Vang. Then of course there is J&G.
I am currently working in Laughlin, so that knocks 100 miles off the trip from the get go.
My parents have a place down in Sun City, so I just detour around the long way through Prescott up to I-40.

You can get a non resident permit in Nevada, by applying to any sheriff's office. You don't for instance, have to apply to the sheriff of Clark County. You'll need the standard finger print cards, etc (and, of course, paying a fee). You'll need proof of an acceptable concealed carry/firearms training course. And you need to qualify with each gun that you'll carry- your permit will list these on your permit. Packing.org will have more info. You don't need a permit to carry a loaded handgun concealed in your car, as long as it's not on your person. The exception is North Las Vegas, for some strange reason.

Count yourself lucky. I remember when I was waiting for mine, it was it was exactly 120 days when I got it. I'm not sure if that was planned or what, but I find it funny that it was postmarked exactly 120 days from when I applied for it.

Martin Luther King and Lake Mead....that's why.
