I have been using the APS bench mount priming tool when priming larger batches due to my arthritis. Today I primed about 400 9mm cases and then the primer plug came out of alignment. I took the top cap off removed the plug put the top cap back on reseated the plug with the handle down and it worked for mabe 5 cases and jammed again. So I did the whole process over again and it jammed again after a couple of cases. I am using both the small and large sleeves on my shell holder. After working for 400 I can't figure out what is wrong.

Help is appreceated!

Thank you

Check the push rod that the handle pushes against when the handle is pulled. On mine, it backed out a little once and it gave fits.

I just screwed it back in, although I had the tool disassembled when I did that. You may be able to turn it without splitting the case.

I put a dab of blue Loctite on the threads to prevent it from backing out in the future. Use Loctite at your own peril.

Hope this helps.

Chuck, thanks for the help. For clarity are you talking about the rod with the spring wrapped around it that is pushed up when you pull the handle? It has bolt head on the bottom. I tried tightening it but it just spins.

Thanks again!

Yes, that's the rod.

Maybe you have to split the case to get it to turn back into its mount. The end may be designed to spin and be loose. Sorry, I've slept since then.

I discovered the rod having backed out after I split the case. With the push rod longer than it is supposed to be, it changes the timing of the priming mechanism and causes problems.

Splitting the case is not difficult. A couple/three screws and it comes apart. Just be cautious and slow when actually splitting the case so that parts do not get launched all over the place.
