AR-10 build thoughts: .358 win or .45 raptor

No, nothing subsonic. Just that exact load, and 225 gr hotcores. It sounds like what I read may be incorrect. It was just on another forum.
Should be fine, my dad had a rem xr100R pistol with a 14" barrel in 358 win and was shooting they heavier 358s, tho never shot past 300 yards on paper but hit where they were supposed to. His was a 1-14" or 1-16"twist .

Yeah you should be GTG, I was initially concerned about the 1:11.25 twist 308 then thought dummy you have a 300 Blackout for subs and will never shoot anything longer than the 175 SMK the 11.25 is perfect for.

I have a .450 bushmaster already. In fact that is what I was going to use on my bear hunt. I got a killer deal in an aero M5 lower so I want to build another .35 caliber+ thumper with it.
Since you have the 450. Are you worried about the bullet performance with the increased muzzle velocity.
.358 diameter bullets are made for rifles.
I like the paper ballistics of the 450 BM. I have a 35 Whelen and realized the 358 Win is a good case capacity for 35 caliber cast bullets.
35 is big enough to run cast and kill like a 30 cal of the same capacity at the range you mention.

You should get an upper and enjoy them then!:)
Thanks to the love for the 460, there are many bullets that can survive the added velocity of these “Mega-straight walls”. Along with the benefit of inexpensive pistol bullets for target practice.
Strictly between the two cartridges you mention, a rifleman like I know you are would have no trouble hunting the same with both. The added payload upon delivery is worth the scant bit more thought before the trigger is pulled.

In my opinion, of course. :D
I find the Bushmaster perfectly pleasant for fifty to sixty shots, and tolerable for 80-90. Those last few rows in the box loom large at the end.;)

Thinking about it, my shoulder would stand in awe of a Raptor.

But perhaps the heavier M5 chassis would make it the same. Twenty or so 180 grain 30-06 is my limit in a 760. That’s fun part, everything feels different.
With careful shopping one can get more for their “recoil buck”.

I wasn't sure how the mag pistol bullets would do.
I have been kicking around doing another Mauser rebarrel using a 16" 450BM.
It would be a cast bullet shooter. But that's not the OPs intended goal.

At one time I had a .358 WSSM that was made by Mike Milli at D Tech. IRRC, I took .243 WSSM and necked them up. It’s been years back. It was to fit goofy Indiana deer laws in place at that time

WSSM brass is nearly impossible to find so it went away. Worked in a standard AR platform. If Mike is still around you might contact him
